In simpler terms, the hybrid game combining elements of factory construction, rogue-like, and tower defense genres titled “ShapeHero Factory” is set to exit early access and officially release for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam on September 18th, as confirmed by its developer Asobism.
ShapeHero Factory first launched in Early Access for PC via Steam on November 5, 2024.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
On a blank scroll spread out on top of a desk in a cellar, a teeny tiny battle is about to begin…
Create heroes with the help of your Minions, and enter the Book of Magic!
ShapeHero Factory fuses aspects of factory builders, roguelites, and tower defense games.
The powerful catastrophe hidden within the Grimoire is stirring awake. To vanquish and re-lock it away, you’ll require the enchanting might of the Minions to fashion miniature champions from the magical parchments.
Gameplay Mechanics
In this game, you’re dealing with a strategy that involves defending towers using wave patterns. Your mission is to establish a production facility for creating your heroes. This is crucial to protect your gates from getting destroyed. However, it’s important to note that you won’t have the ability to control your heroes personally. Instead, all you can do is construct your factory, which will be the backbone of your defense strategy.
In each subsequent encounter, the enemy force will grow more formidable. Utilize the distinct assets (facilities) you acquire as prizes to fortify your factory and hold your position firmly. Persevere through every intense skirmish, and ultimately conquer the impending catastrophe known as The Great Calamity.
Mass-Produce Heroes
Move fundamental forms (shapes) from the roll into position to construct diverse characters using assorted arrangements. Uniting circles with triangles produces soldiers, whereas pairing circles with squares creates sprites. Add squares to soldiers to equip them with shields. You might even develop more robust characters by merging soldiers together.
Hold the Gates
Deep within the Tome of Enchantment resides a catastrophe known as The Great Calamity. To keep your champions from breaching it, his armies will strike at your fortifications to bring them down. Maintain your defenses as you delve deeper into the book, uncovering its secrets. Each servant of The Great Calamity possesses unique attack strategies, so ensure you choose the right hero for each encounter.
Factory-Building and Roguelite Elements Make For Endless Possibilities
Obtain rewards from a randomly generated list of options after winning battles.
Will you unlock new artifacts (facilities), or upgrade your existing ones?
As you continue making these tricky decisions, you will create a wholly unique factory!
Each gaming session offers unique twists as I navigate through various characters, each with their distinct set of decisions and hero creation styles. That means every playthrough is like building a fresh, new factory, keeping the experience fresh and exciting!
Use the Book of Arcane Knowledge to Grow Stronger
In simpler terms, your adversaries are quite formidable. By earning experience points throughout the game and employing the Tome of Mystical Wisdom, players can boost their strength indefinitely. Essentially, the longer you engage with the game, the more powerful you’ll grow.
