Sharon Osbourne Details “Complex” Relationship With Blended Family

Sharon Osbourne is setting the record straight on her family’s dynamics.

Following the recent passing of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, and his children – Jessica, Louis, and Elliot with his first wife, Thelma Riley, and Aimee, Kelly, and Jack with Sharon – former America’s Got Talent judge Sharon Osbourne has spoken openly about the challenges and intricacies of her relationship with her blended family.

Sharon Osbourne recently shared on the Dumb Blonde Podcast that she’s very close to Ozzy Osbourne’s son. She explained that it’s common for the children’s partners to bond with the family, and that she has a wonderful relationship with him. Her children also get along with him, and she describes them all as a close-knit group.

Sharon discussed why her first marriage to a former member of Black Sabbath ended, sharing her perspective on the split.

Ozzy explained that his wife, Thelma, was already married and had a child before they met. She got pregnant young and had a five-year-old when they got together and eventually married.

She explained that Ozzy was already a member of Black Sabbath, and the band was beginning to gain popularity. At the time, she was a student, and they were all still very young.

As Sharon explained, Ozzy, who had been very open about his long struggle with and recovery from addiction, and Thelma were at completely different points in their lives.

She went on to explain that they were both very young when it happened. A young woman had a baby, and they were all just kids themselves, but their lives quickly went in different directions. He traveled constantly, and when he was home, he struggled with alcohol and behaved in ways she could only guess at, ultimately leading to the relationship falling apart. It just couldn’t last.

Even though Ozzy and Thelma’s romantic relationship was difficult, they always agreed on how to raise their children.

Oh my gosh, it’s just so sad! From what I’ve gathered, they were complete opposites, but they had those amazing kids together, and that’s what really held them together, you know? I mean, I knew her a little, but we were worlds apart. I was this loud, kinda wild personality, always saying what was on my mind, and she was so grounded, still figuring things out in school. It’s just… heartbreaking to think about.

Sharon described how she used to confidently enter a room and immediately impress people. She recalled that others would react by thinking she was eccentric, and she understood why they felt that way.

Though Thelma and Sharon had their differences, respect was always the priority. 

Sharon explained that she and Kelly Osbourne’s mother didn’t share any common interests, but she always treated her with respect due to her marriage to Ozzy and their children.

Ozzy Osbourne, born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham, England in 1948, rose to fame as the frontman of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, formed in 1968 with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. He married Thelma Riley in 1971, and they had two children, Louis and Jessica, joining Thelma’s son, Elliot Kingsley. Ozzy openly struggled with the trappings of fame, admitting to excessive drinking and drug use.

In 1979, Ozzy was dismissed from Black Sabbath and began a successful solo career. He divorced Thelma in 1982 and married Sharon Osbourne, whose father had previously managed Black Sabbath. Their marriage was often public, with both acknowledging difficult times, including an incident in 1989 and a temporary split in 2016 due to infidelity, alongside the joys of raising their children: Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. Much of their family life was documented in the reality show The Osbournes, which aired from 2002 to 2005.

In later years, Ozzy faced health challenges, including Parkinson’s disease and injuries from an ATV accident in 2003, leading him to reduce his public appearances. He performed with Black Sabbath for a final time in July 2025 and passed away weeks later at the age of 76.

Sharon, born in 1952, began managing Ozzy Osbourne in 1979 after he left Black Sabbath, and their professional relationship quickly blossomed into a romance. Ozzy admitted that he fell in love with her even while still married to his first wife.

Beyond managing Ozzy, Sharon has also worked with bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Motörhead, and The Electric Light Orchestra. She later transitioned into television, starring in the groundbreaking reality show The Osbournes. She also appeared as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice, judged on The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, and hosted The Talk for eleven years before being let go in 2021.

Both Sharon and Ozzy have been open about their health struggles over the years. Sharon battled colon cancer in 2002, successfully undergoing treatment, and had a preventive double mastectomy in 2012. She also faced a health issue that required hospitalization in 2022. Despite these challenges, the couple has remained devoted to each other.

In a 2023 interview, Sharon described them as “two oddballs” who were meant to be together. She acknowledged that their relationship hasn’t always been easy, but emphasized that love and commitment are essential for overcoming difficult times.

Aimee Osbourne, born in September 1983, is the eldest child of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Like her parents, she’s a musician, singing and writing songs both as a solo artist and with her band, ARO. However, unlike her family, Aimee chose not to participate in the reality TV show The Osbournes in the early 2000s. She explained in a 2021 interview that she felt it would be unfair to benefit from her family’s fame and wanted to protect her privacy, especially as a teenager. She also felt the show didn’t align with her career goals and desire to be recognized for her own talent. While she avoided the reality show spotlight, Aimee has appeared in other projects, including an MTV adaptation of Wuthering Heights in 2003, voice work for the animated film Postman Pat: The Movie in 2014, and her own music videos. Her relationship with her sister, Kelly, is strained, with Kelly stating in a 2024 interview that they no longer communicate and have very different perspectives.

Kelly Osbourne, the youngest daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, arrived 13 months after her sister. She’s a talented woman with many roles: she’s an actress, appearing in films like Life as We Know It and So Undercover alongside Miley Cyrus; a singer with two albums released; a reality TV personality on shows like The Osbournes and Dancing With the Stars; and a judge on Project Runway: Junior and Australia’s Got Talent. She’s also a designer and has hosted TV series including Project Catwalk, Fashion Police, and Lego Masters Jr.

Kelly has been open about the difficulties she’s faced, including overcoming addiction and dealing with public attention on her personal life, such as past relationships with Luke Worrall and Matthew Mosshart, and scrutiny about her body. She expressed gratitude for these experiences, telling Us Weekly in 2024, “I’m so grateful for every mistake I made and every lesson learned. I have such an incredible life.”

Her life now includes her son, Sidney, born in November 2022, and her fiancé, Sid Wilson, who proposed in July 2025. Kelly believes having Sidney, 18 months after achieving sobriety, was transformative, telling Us that her baby “saved me and made me a whole human,” and that she didn’t understand true love or have a real purpose until becoming a mother.

Jack Osbourne, born in November 1985, gained early recognition after appearing on the reality show The Osbournes. He briefly pursued acting, with small roles in shows like Dawson’s Creek and the movie New York Minute starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. He continued to be a familiar face on television, participating in shows like Union Jack, Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie, Dancing With the Stars, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.

Beyond being on screen, Jack has worked as a producer, creating documentaries such as God Bless Ozzy Osbourne (2011) and the series Alpha Dogs (2013). He often combines these roles, both producing and starring in shows like Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour and his paranormal series Portals to Hell.

Jack has openly shared personal challenges with his fans, including his journey to sobriety in 2003 and his multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2012. He views his diagnosis positively, telling Today in 2017 that it motivated him to be more productive and appreciate life.

He is a father to four daughters: Pearl, Andy, and Minnie with ex-wife Lisa Stelly, and Maple with wife Aree Gearheart, and values the support of his family.

Ozzy Osbourne’s children from his first marriage, Jessica and Louis, have spoken about growing up with a father who was often on tour. Jessica described his absences as creating a somewhat unstable childhood, with periods of adjustment whenever he returned home. Louis added that Ozzy was a good father when he was present and sober, but that wasn’t very often.

Even after Ozzy and Thelma divorced, he remained in contact with his children. A memorable moment captured on The Osbournes was when he received news of his first grandchild’s birth. Louis mentioned he sees his siblings, Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, occasionally, noting that distance makes regular family gatherings difficult. They’re more likely to run into each other in a New York hotel than have a traditional Sunday dinner together.

However, Louis and his father make an effort to stay connected, with regular Sunday phone calls and visits when his father is in the UK. Louis describes his father as a loving and involved grandfather.
