Marvel Studios debuted “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” in August 2022, receiving a mix of responses from both critics and fans. It’s been almost three years since then, but the studio hasn’t confirmed if a second season of this series led by Tatiana Maslany will materialize. Recently, during an interview at Entertainment Weekly’s San Diego Comic-Con suite, Patty Guggenheim discussed the show’s potential future and even suggested a spinoff series featuring her character, Madisynn. “I probably wouldn’t be the first to know if they decide to make that move,” she said. “I think I’d be the last one to find out. That’s how it usually goes.
With Marvel Studios shifting their focus towards quality instead of volume, the fate of existing series remains uncertain. However, even if She-Hulk: Attorney at Law doesn’t get another season, producer Patty Guggenheim has an exciting concept for a spinoff: Madisynn & Wong. According to her, “The most appealing aspect is their relationship with Wong. Watching them traverse the multiverse, causing mischief, and encouraging him to loosen up during these adventures is captivating. They’d return to Kamar-Taj for a break, perhaps watching shows, and then things might take a turn towards the sinister.
Could Madisynn Return Without She-Hulk?
In the popular series “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” Madisynn rapidly gained popularity among viewers and her connection with Wong was a hit. Fans seemed to relish this relationship deeply. Despite no immediate plans for the character’s return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she almost reappeared in the highly praised “Agatha All Along.” The showrunner, Jac Schaeffer, was fond of Madisynn and initially intended to incorporate her into the coven during the early stages of the series. However, this plan did not materialize as Schaeffer found it difficult to fit Madisynn’s involvement in a way that made sense within the storyline.
Patty Guggenheim’s creation, Madisynn, has gained such a strong following that Marvel Comics has officially included her as a comic book character, first appearing in issue #3 of What If… Venom?, penned by Jeremy Holt and illustrated by Manuel Garcia and Cece De La Cruz. Fans eagerly anticipate Madisynn’s potential reappearance on television or even in movies, but it’s unclear how Marvel Studios plans to utilize her character moving forward. However, Guggenheim openly expresses her dream collaborations for screen adaptations, naming Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda/Scarlet Witch, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and Anthony Mackie’s Captain America as the characters she’d most enjoy working with on-screen.
On the small-screen creation of Jessica Gao, the show titled “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” presents Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk, Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Jameela Jamil as Titania, Steve Coulter as Holden Holliway, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Mallory Book, Josh Segarra as Augustus ‘Pug’ Pugliese, Tim Roth as Abomination, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. The series garnered mixed responses from critics and audiences, but unfortunately became a target of review bombing. Despite this, it was able to secure a “Fresh” rating of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Currently, you can only find the inaugural season of “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” on Disney+. At this time, there’s no official word from Marvel Studios about a potential second season for the show.
