Shenmue 3 Enhanced Kicks Off Pre-Orders, Coming to PC, Consoles Later This Year

Ys Net and ININ Games have started promoting Shenmue 3 Enhanced with a new trailer for pre-orders. They’ve also announced the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a physical copy available for the Switch 2. The trailer, which you can watch below, includes a message from the game’s creator, Yu Suzuki, thanking fans for their long-time support of the Shenmue series.

He expressed deep gratitude for everyone’s continued support of Shenmue 3. He announced plans to release Shenmue 3 Enhanced on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC later this year. He also confirmed that pre-orders for physical copies are now open through the ININ Games store. He finished by saying he hopes Shenmue will resonate with players once more, and thanked them for joining them on this journey.

The console versions of the game will be traditional physical copies with discs. However, the PC Special Edition will only include a Steam key to download the game, along with a special box containing a Blu-ray documentary about the history of Shenmue, and an art book detailing the creation of Shenmue 3.

Collector’s Editions of the game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. These editions include everything from the Special Edition, plus a collectible figurine of the main character, Ryo Hazuki, training, and a keychain featuring Ryo with a forklift. They’ll also come with a few other extra items.

The upgraded version, Shenmue 3 Enhanced, was first announced in August 2025. Ys Net stated that players who already owned Shenmue 3 on PlayStation 4 or PC could upgrade to the Enhanced version through their online platform of choice.

This update delivers several improvements, including clearer graphics, a more fluid experience, and highly detailed 4K textures for environments and characters. You’ll also notice more people on screen at once, and a classic camera option reminiscent of the original Shenmue and Shenmue 2 games. Gameplay has been refined, interactions are better, and the user experience is improved overall. On PC, the game will also take advantage of Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR technologies to enhance image quality.

Following directly after the events of Shenmue 2, Shenmue 3 finds Ryo arriving in Guilin, China, continuing his search for his father’s killer. He quickly meets and rescues Shenhua Ling, a young woman who looks just like the girl from his dreams. Together, they embark on a journey from Guilin to Bailu Village and beyond, as Ryo strives to find the person responsible for his father’s death and get his revenge.

After nearly twenty years, Shenmue 3 was finally released, following Shenmue 2 which debuted in 2001. Many thought the series was finished, but Yu Suzuki unexpectedly launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2015 to fund a new installment. The campaign quickly surpassed its $2 million goal, ultimately raising over $6 million.
