Sherlock legend confirmed for starry Netflix adaptation of acclaimed short story from Claire Keegan

The cast of the new movie, Walk the Blue Fields, is growing – Andrew Scott is the latest actor said to be joining the project.

Emily Blunt, known for her role in ‘Oppenheimer’ and an Academy Award nomination, will star in a new romance movie adapted from a short story by Claire Keegan, which shares the film’s title.

This story takes place in Ireland and centers around a woman facing a difficult choice. A past love triangle resurfaces just as she’s about to get married, threatening to disrupt her wedding day.

Deadline reports that Scott (known for Fleabag) will star in the movie, joining cast members Tom Cullen (from Downton Abbey) and Ciarán Hinds (of Belfast). Specifics about what roles they’ll play haven’t been revealed yet.

John Crowley, known for his work on “Brooklyn,” will direct the film, based on a screenplay written by playwright and screenwriter Conor McPherson.

Emily Blunt will not only act in the film, but she’ll also be a producer through her production company, Ledbury Productions. She’ll be working alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe, who are producing through Fremantle.

Ori Allon, Matthew Gallagher, Dennis Casali, Steven Garcia, along with Crowley, McPherson, Claire Keegan, and Edmund Sampson, will serve as executive producers on the project.

Blunt recently expressed her enthusiasm for adapting Claire Keegan’s powerful and moving short story into a film. She also praised the team who have already contributed to the project, calling their work ‘magical’.

Scott is famous for his work on shows like Sherlock and Fleabag, and has also gained recognition for his performances in Ripley and the BAFTA-nominated film, All of Us Strangers.
