Sherri Shepherd is not falling for the same ruse twice.
When a rumor spread that September 23rd would be the date of the Rapture – a religious event where Christians are believed to be taken to heaven – a popular talk show host explained why she didn’t believe the predictions of the end of the world.
During her show on September 24th, Sherri shared a past experience. She explained that she once belonged to a religion that believed in an imminent rapture. They urged followers to prepare, but Sherri questioned the point, saying, ‘Why worry about things here if we’re going somewhere else? I won’t need a house or possessions where I’m going.’
Sherri genuinely believed the world was ending, so she stopped taking care of her everyday tasks and obligations.
She remembered a time when she just stopped paying her bills, taxes, and even traffic tickets. She figured, with the world potentially ending, there was no point in paying for anything. Her car registration had been lapsed for two years, and she’d racked up around $10,000 in unpaid fines from traffic violations.
But the 58-year-old thought she had more important priorities than her Earthly dues.
Sherri questioned why she should go to court, arguing that with the impending apocalypse and her expected ascension to heaven, something like a parking ticket seemed unimportant. As she put it, ‘Jesus doesn’t care about parking tickets!’
Despite the hardships she faced, her strong belief in life after death actually brought her trouble in this life.
She remembered a time she was arrested, and showed a picture of herself in a bright T-shirt and heels. She explained she was on her way to a comedy show at the Comedy Store in Hollywood when it happened, and she wasn’t aware of any issue beforehand, so the police stopped her.
She playfully explained that a brief, eight-day jail stay – and her initial belief in the Rapture – somehow led to her being jokingly labeled a hardened criminal.
Sherri’s story isn’t unusual when you look at all the online chatter before the predicted September 23rd Rapture. The rumor started with a YouTube video posted in June by Joshua Mhlakela, a pastor from South Africa.
As predictions of the world ending circulated, the hashtag #Rapture gained popularity on TikTok, amassing over 300,000 videos. These videos showed people either seriously or jokingly selling their belongings, or claiming to have proof that the apocalypse was happening.
“I really think this is happening,” a woman shared in a TikTok video posted on September 21st, which received over a million views. While she wasn’t completely certain, she felt that confirmations from a higher power suggested it would happen next week.

In June 2024, athlete Jason Kelce jokingly responded to a fan on Twitter who commented that he appeared to not wash his legs or feet, tweeting, “What kind of weirdo washes their feet…”
The retired Philadelphia Eagles player later doubled down on his comments.
On his podcast, *New Heights* with his brother Travis Kelce, he jokingly asked, “What kind of person washes someone else’s feet?” He then added that he would scrub off any visible dirt, though.
More than ten years after actor Kristen Stewart shared a story about witnessing a clown’s death in a car explosion at the circus when he was a child, he confessed that the story was made up.
Robert remembered telling *The New York Times Style Magazine* in December 2024 that he reacted with complete surprise. He said he immediately asked, “What on earth? Are you possessed?”
As for what he said during the 2011 Today interview promoting his film Water for Elephants?
He explained that one of the clowns had died in an accident. Their small car exploded, and it was a very serious incident. Everyone panicked and ran to safety; it was a truly frightening experience.
Grandma knows best.
In an October 2022 episode of *The Kardashians*, Kim Kardashian shared a personal story about how her grandmother, Mary Jo “MJ” Campbell, unexpectedly played a role in a private moment with her then-boyfriend, Pete Davidson.
Kim Kardashian told MJ, Kris Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian that she and Pete Davidson were at the Beverly Hills Hotel last weekend. They were chatting by the fireplace for hours, and she remembered something her grandmother had told her: that having sex in front of a fireplace is a way to truly live life. Inspired by this, they decided to act on it as a tribute to her grandmother.
Grandma’s reaction? A nod of approval.
Kim jokingly remarked, “It’s weird to think about your grandmother right before being intimate!” MJ responded with a laugh, “I know, but everyone has a past!”
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have a very close family, including their children, 8-year-old Wyatt and 6-year-old Dimitri, and their love for each other is limitless.
So much so, that the Black Swan actress revealed they keep an open-door policy at home.
She told TopMob News in September 2022 that this also extends to the bathroom. She explained it’s simply become normal for her family and children to openly discuss and accept natural bodily functions.
Mila explained she decided to give in after her family repeatedly asked to come inside. She said she finally thought, ‘Okay, fine, I’ll just leave the door open.’
Pre-kids, she might not have imagined she’d flush that particular boundary away.
She said she always thought she’d be someone who needed privacy in the bathroom, but now she’s comfortable with the door open.
Ghouls just want to have fun.
During an October 2022 episode of *The View*, while discussing a woman who claimed her home was haunted by “sexual ghosts,” Sara Haines posed a surprising question to her fellow panelists: “Is it possible to get pregnant from a ghost?”
Luckily, Joy Behar, her co-host, chimed in with a humorous response: “I’ve had encounters with ghosts and never gotten pregnant.”
“I’m going to leave that statement as is,” Whoopi Goldberg responded. “I’m not sure everyone heard what Joy said, but I’m choosing not to comment further on it.”
Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are very close friends, but Hoda recently learned something surprising about her “Today” co-host. While preparing for an episode of “Today with Hoda and Jenna,” Hoda found out that Jenna always goes without underwear.
Hoda Kotb shared a funny story from a November 2022 episode of *Today with Hoda and Jenna*. She explained that they both needed to quickly change outfits and head back to the dressing room. While there, Hoda realized Jenna Bush Hager doesn’t wear underwear.
Jenna’s rationale? Well, no underwear might just be more convenient to her.
She explained that the style creates a more flattering shape and also allows you to pack lighter. She felt there were many benefits to choosing it.
Looks like someone hasn’t been keeping up.
Britney Spears related to a line from Keke Palmer’s recent viral moment – “he could be walking down the street, I wouldn’t know a thing” – and confessed she wasn’t familiar with Pete Davidson or Scott Disick.
Britney shared a funny video from March showing Pete Davidson-who was dating Kim Kardashian at the time-and Kourtney Kardashian’s ex, Scott Disick, having a night out together. She said the video had her laughing a lot.
Britney explained she was resharing the video, adding that she didn’t know the people in it, but it had really made her laugh.
Before Chris Evans became famous as Captain America and was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2022, Jana Kramer dated him and thought he was a handsome and charming guy.
I was so surprised to hear the singer talk about this on her *Whine Down with Jana Kramer* podcast last November! She said it happened over a decade ago, and while she doesn’t remember exactly how many times they went out, she definitely remembers their last date. It’s wild to think back on!
Jana, who was around 26 at the time, said Chris asked her to come over when he had some friends visiting from Boston.
Jana recalled that the last thing she remembered was her partner going to the bathroom right after she’d eaten asparagus, which changes the smell of your urine. They didn’t end up intimate that night; he stayed up late with friends, and the next morning, Jana quietly left his house, feeling embarrassed.
She added, “I never heard from him again.”
Not all of these confessions are amusing.
In December, television writer Elisabeth Finch confessed that she had fabricated a story about having a rare bone cancer. Eight years prior, she had shared this false diagnosis in an article with *ELLE*, and it even became the basis for a plotline on the TV show *Grey’s Anatomy*.
Elisabeth recently shared with *The Ankler* newsletter that a lie she told at age 34 was the biggest regret of her life. She explained that the lie grew over time and she kept it hidden for years. She also clarified that she has never been diagnosed with cancer.
Finch, who stepped down from his role on the ABC medical show after being temporarily suspended, admitted, “I messed up badly. It was completely unacceptable, and I take full responsibility.”
Beauty is pain, but Kim Kardashian might be able to stomach it.
The reality star told *The New York Times* she’d consider almost any procedure to look younger.
Look, I’m all about self-care and looking your best, and honestly? I’ve heard crazier things work. I was joking around recently, saying that if someone told me the secret to youth was *really* out there – even something as unbelievable as… well, let’s just say something incredibly unpleasant – I’d seriously consider trying it. I’m not saying I *would*, but I definitely wouldn’t rule it out! When it comes to turning back the clock, I’m open to possibilities.
I remember reading Kim’s interview with *Allure* back in July 2022, and she explained that comment was mostly a joke. Honestly, she didn’t even think it was *that* bad of an idea, and I kind of get where she was coming from!
Kim continued, saying she’d likely do almost anything for youth, even something disgusting. ‘If someone told me eating a bowl of poop daily would make me look younger, I’d probably do it,’ she admitted.
Oh my gosh, she said she might be able to manage *a bite*! Just a bite! Can you believe it? She was talking about whether she could even finish a whole bowl, and she seemed so unsure! It’s honestly the cutest thing ever, knowing her limits… even if it’s just a tiny bit of whatever deliciousness she’s having. I’m already picturing it – a perfect, little bite. It’s everything!
Jelly Roll could’ve used some saving from himself.
During an April 2025 interview on *The Jennifer Hudson Show*, the singer of “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to reveal all the details.
“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”
To be honest, Jelly Roll (born Jason Bradley DeFord) didn’t intend to cause such serious harm.
He firmly believed it was just a misunderstanding. “I sincerely apologize,” he said. “I saw the audience turn from supportive to completely against me.”
