In response to the announcement of season 2 in 2022, series creator and writer James Graham expressed his sentiments in a statement saying, “The overwhelming response to Sherwood has touched me profoundly.”

I’d like to share some stories that originate from my hometown, and I feel it’s crucial to extend my sincere thanks to the community who may find these topics challenging, yet I believe they are significant to delve into.

“It’s always more complex than meets the eye when discussing the political and cultural landscape of regions like the East Midlands and those once known as the ‘red wall.’ It’s been an incredible privilege for me to provide a unique perspective and representation for a place that holds a special place in my heart.”

Having lived and breathed the tales and lore of this fascinating county for most of my life, I am beyond excited to share its rich history and captivating stories with audiences. From ancient legends passed down through generations to modern-day narratives that echo those of yore, there’s a timeless allure to this place that never ceases to amaze me. As I delve deeper into its history, I find myself more enamored by the county’s past and eager to uncover even more hidden gems for others to appreciate. Truly, this is a journey I am honored to embark on, and I can’t wait to share my discoveries with you all.

It’s equally delightful to witness the recognition our exceptional team is receiving, including our leading director, Lewis Arnold, whom I am deeply indebted to, as well as Ben Williams.

Reflecting on my journey so far, I can confidently say that none of this would have been possible without House Productions standing by me every step of the way. Their unwavering support and belief in me has made all the difference. Furthermore, having the public service remit of the BBC as a partner has opened doors for me that otherwise might have remained closed. I am deeply grateful for their role in my life and career.

What will Sherwood season 2 be about?

Upon its renewal, many enthusiasts of Sherwood found themselves pondering about the direction season 2 might take in further unfolding the story set in the East Midlands, which the previous season had illuminated so vividly.

Reflecting on my previous exploration of the ’80s miner’s strikes, I ponder over the potential direction a continuation of this series might take. Would we find ourselves revisiting familiar faces as they navigate new challenges or embarking on fresh tales with a new cast? Only time will tell.

Indeed, Season 2 will delve deeper into the aftermath of Season 1 and further examine the intriguing topics that sparked much conversation among viewers.

“For Season 2, we delve deeper into the significant topics that captivated viewers throughout the UK in the first series.”

“In contemporary times, the narrative presents us with two fresh families who unwittingly become embroiled in the affairs of the Sparrows. This leads them into an intricate network involving neighborhood gangs, long-standing feuds, vengeance, and deceit.”

Simultaneously, a freshly installed sheriff in Nottingham is fiercely opposing a planned mine in the region. This project is touted to bring essential employment opportunities and wealth, yet it also stirs unpleasant recollections of the past that have long plagued the community.

Once more, James Graham has written the latest season for this series, with him also holding the role of executive producer.

As a long-time admirer of British cinema, I am particularly excited about the upcoming TV series, knowing that Clio Barnard is directing some episodes. Her work on Ali & Ava and The Selfish Giant has always impressed me with its raw emotional depth and nuanced storytelling. Having grown up in Yorkshire myself, where Barnard’s films are set, I can appreciate the authenticity of her portrayal of working-class life, which resonates deeply with my own experiences.
