Lizardcube’s highly praised Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is getting new downloadable content next year called the Sega Villains Stage DLC. This adds iconic villains from other Sega games as challenging bosses to the side-scrolling action. The first of these is Sonic the Hedgehog’s Dr. Eggman. Following him will be Death Adder from Golden Axe, and another villain will be announced soon.
Golden Axe is a classic side-scrolling beat ’em up and one of Sega’s most well-known game series, but it hasn’t had a new game since 2008’s Beast Rider. A new installment was revealed at The Game Awards 2023, along with games like Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and others, but there haven’t been any further details released yet.
Keep an eye out for further news about the Sega Villains Stage DLC, coming in early 2026. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance can be played on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
