The roguelike horror action game SHINONOME ABYSS: The Maiden Exorcist is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam) on March 26th. This was announced by publishers Kadokawa Corporation, Kadokawa Game Linkage, and ABC ANIMATION, along with developer WODAN.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Play as Yono, a shrine maiden, in this strategy roguelike where you must use items and traps to survive a terrifying mansion filled with yokai and angry spirits! It’s a horror action game where careful planning is key.
Take on the Challenge of Escaping From Endless Haunted Houses as Shrine Maiden Yono!
Yono, a shrine maiden searching for her lost brother, finds herself in a frightening mansion overrun by ghosts and supernatural creatures called Mononoke. To survive the mansion’s constantly shifting layout, you’ll need to rely on your wits, skills, and bravery, using limited resources and traps to overcome the dangers within.
- Discover the type and number of Mononoke in the next room by listening for sounds and uncovering other clues.
- Lure the Mononoke into traps you’ve placed.
- Use elements of the mansion like fireplaces and broken floors to your advantage.
When Yono faces serious threat, she unlocks a hidden power and becomes stronger. Learn to anticipate and manage this change to gain an edge against the Mononoke.
Choose Your Experience
Face down the challenges of the mansion in three unique modes that change the play experience.
- Harai – Fixed maps that challenge you to solve specific puzzles.
- Misogi – Escape randomly-generated maps in a more casual experience.
- Gyou – Hardcore randomly-generated maps with a heavy focus on survival.

An Upgraded and Refined Experience!
This new game is much larger than the original Shinonome, featuring more monsters, traps, items, and dungeons, plus a challenging new boss. It also introduces Yono’s second personality. We listened to player feedback from the first game and made improvements to ensure a better and more enjoyable experience.
