Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, launched in 2014, is a popular digital platform known for hosting hit manga like Dandadan, Spy x Family, and Kaiju No. 8, among many others. Because the ‘shonen’ demographic (targeting young boys) is so competitive, Shonen Jump+ focuses on publishing series with the most potential. However, not every series succeeds, and there are many reasons why a manga might not find a large audience. The platform often gives promising series a chance to improve before canceling them – some are discontinued after only a few chapters, while others run for over a year. While shonen manga remains incredibly popular worldwide, gag humor series are facing challenges, especially in international markets.
I’ve noticed that while certain manga series still have a following in Japan, they don’t seem to gain as much traction as they used to. Recently, a new action-adventure manga called Bouken ni Iku Fuku ga Nai (which means I Have No Clothes to Go on an Adventure) started appearing on Shonen Jump+. Unfortunately, because it wasn’t widely available outside of Japan, and as reported by the popular Shonen Jump news account @WSJ_manga on X, it ended after only 50 chapters. Shueisha rarely makes official cancellation announcements, but fans can usually tell when a series is being cut short after about a year – it usually wraps up very quickly.
What Is the Plot of Bouken ni Iku Fuku ga Nai?

The story follows Eric, a remarkably strong hero known for protecting villages from demons. However, his incredible power constantly damages his gear, leaving him with no protection after each fight. Meanwhile, in the city of Jasuko, Rose runs a small tailor shop catering to adventurers and other demi-humans like herself – beastfolk, elves, and fairies among them. She dreams of making her clothing brand famous and works tirelessly towards that goal. One day, Eric unexpectedly arrives at her shop completely without clothes, leading Rose to mistakenly attack him before realizing who he is.
Rose discovers he’s training relentlessly to defeat the Demon King, but his workouts are so intense they quickly destroy his clothes. He uses magic to protect himself a little, but it’s not enough for him to live normally around others. Determined to help, Rose sets out with him to find materials strong enough to create armor that can withstand his incredible power. However, finding something durable enough proves incredibly difficult, as even the strongest materials fall apart when faced with his strength.
