Shonen Jump Cancels Underrated Historical Fantasy in Less Than a Year

Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, launched in 2014, is a popular digital platform known for hosting hit manga series like Dandadan and Spy x Family, among many others. Because shonen manga is so widely popular, it’s a very competitive market, and Shonen Jump+ consistently features up-and-coming titles. However, with so much competition, not every series succeeds in gaining a large readership. As the manga industry expands globally, Shueisha often cancels series quickly – sometimes within a few months or a year – if they don’t attract a significant audience.

Whether a manga series continues often depends on how well its collected volumes sell, even if it’s published on popular online platforms or in magazines. This year alone, Shonen Jump+ has already ended over 40 series, and recently, Eunuch of Empire by Kei Saikawa and Kotaro Shono was added to that list. The final chapter (chapter 25) will be released on November 25th, 2025. Saikawa is the author of Hero Organization, and Shono has illustrated series like World’s End Harem. The news comes from @WSJ_manga on X, a trusted source for information about Shonen Jump titles. Eunuch of Empire began in February of this year and will conclude with its 24th chapter, slated for release in January 2026.

What Is The Plot of Eunuch of Empire?

The story takes place in a time when a powerful empire collected treasures from all over the world and beyond. This empire held incredible riches – gold, silver, rare books, magical items, and even exceptionally beautiful people. Jafar, a young man castrated and forced into service, now works in the palace library because he can read and write many different languages.

Despite being separated from his sister, he never stops searching for her. His quiet life is disrupted, however, when he meets the mysterious woman rumored to be a ghost haunting a forbidden room. She’s strikingly beautiful, captivating anyone who sees her and leaving them feeling strangely empty. Through an unexpected turn of events, Jafar is transferred to the harem, a place exclusively inhabited by eunuchs.

Jafar’s life in the harem continues after another meeting with the mysterious woman he believes to be a ghost, and her sisters. He doesn’t realize this chance encounter will eventually threaten the entire empire. You can read the manga on the official Manga Plus app. Currently, 21 chapters are available, with the next one coming out on December 28, 2025. Only two volumes have been published so far, and the third is still in the works.
