I’m so excited! Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump just gave us a first look at a brand new series launching in 2026! It’s a familiar start to the year – just like last year, the latest issue marked the end of Yuki Kawaguchi’s Otter of the Flame. But we all know what that means: room for something fresh! I’m really hoping this new series will be a hit with fans, and I can’t wait to see what it’s all about!

I’m so excited! After Otr of the Flame finished up, Shueisha announced a new series by Kyo Tanimoto called Under Doctor would be taking its place. We haven’t had many details yet, but Viz Media just gave us our first peek at the main character! They’re showing it off ahead of the English release this weekend, and I can’t wait to see more – check out the preview below!

Shonen Jump Shares First Look at Under Doctor Ahead of 2026 Debut

Kyo Tanimoto’s new series, Under Doctor, is about to launch, marking their first manga publication. Viz Media describes the story as following Haiji, who was born with a natural talent for assassination but instead dedicates his life to healing others. The series appears to center on a doctor operating in a dangerous underworld, utilizing skills honed to survive among assassins, but choosing to use them for medicine.

Action manga featuring assassins has become increasingly popular with Shonen Jump in recent years. Series like Mission: Yozakura Family, Sakamoto Days, Kill Blue, and Kagurabachi have all found success in this genre. Other popular action titles from Shueisha, such as Spy x Family, Kindergarten Wars, and Marriagetoxin, suggest that Under Doctor has the potential to become another hit if it follows a similar path.

What’s Next for Shonen Jump in 2026?

The popular manga magazine Shonen Jump has already canceled one series this month and is preparing to cancel another. Harukaze Mound, created by Goto Togo and Kento Matsuura, will end after just 30 chapters. This cancellation is happening as Shonen Jump plans to launch three new series this month, including Under Doctor. So, fans can expect at least one more series to conclude soon.

In addition to Under Doctor, Shonen Jump will soon launch two new series: Kaigeki no Kinato (currently without an English title) by Amemiya Kento, and Alien Headbutt by Inui Akira. To make space for these, two existing series have been cancelled, and another cancellation or series ending is expected. Fans are eagerly watching to see what happens next.
