Shonen Jump is famous for launching many popular anime series, including titles like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Hero Academia, which all began as manga in the magazine. However, even successful series aren’t guaranteed to last, and Weekly Shonen Jump has recently been cancelling some well-known manga for various reasons. Recently, a popular manga focusing on winter sports published its final chapter, marking another significant loss for the magazine.
The manga series Young Guns Boarders, which started in Shonen Jump+ last July, centered around the world of snowboarding. After a short run, the series concluded with its sixteenth chapter, wrapping up the story of the “Young Guns” snowboard team. Set at a Japanese ski resort, the story followed three friends trying to enjoy a relaxed life until they get caught up in a crime. Snowboarding hasn’t been a frequent subject in manga, making it disappointing that Young Guns Boarders ended before it had a chance to become a prominent series in the genre.
Young Gun Boarders Ends

If you’re interested in learning more about Young Gun Boarders and its creator, Musashi, there’s a lot of information available. Musashi is actually a former snowboarder, bringing personal experience to the series. Young Gun Boarders was selected for publication on Shonen Jump+ after winning a fan-voted contest through the “Jump Rookie!” campaign. This isn’t Musashi’s first snowboarding manga; they previously created Boarder Line and Shredders. Hopefully, Musashi will continue to create snowboarding manga for Shonen Jump in the future.
Even though one exciting sports story has finished, Shonen Jump still offers a lot of great sports manga. Blue Box, now an anime, uniquely combines basketball and badminton and is a popular series. Other ongoing sports manga like The Climber, Dog’s Red, The Days of Diamond, and Catenaccio continue to release new chapters regularly.
Even though the Young Gun Boarders manga has finished, there’s still a possibility it could be turned into an anime someday. Recently, Shonen Jump cancelled Super Psychic Policeman Chojo, but it’s getting a new anime adaptation this year from Arvo Animation—the studio behind Kowloon Generic Romance and Monster Girl Doctor.
