A popular series in Weekly Shonen Jump has finally confirmed a romantic relationship between two main characters, a moment fans have anticipated for almost five years. While Shonen Jump has recently cancelled ten series as it looks for its next big hit, its established series are also undergoing significant developments. As the magazine enters a new phase, it appears these long-running titles are beginning to build towards their conclusions.
Kenta Shinohara’s Witch Watch is gaining momentum as it approaches its climax. The series, which began in Shonen Jump in 2021, features Nico Wakatsuki regaining her full magical power. At the same time, her longtime friend and protector, Morihito Otogi, has revealed his romantic feelings for her, and they’re beginning a relationship just as a major, chaotic battle looms.
Witch Watch Finally Moves Forward With Its Biggest Romance

The latest chapters of Witch Watch focus on the aftermath of everything Nico went through. Now back in her own body and with most of her powers restored, Morihito is concerned about what this means for their relationship. He’s starting to realize he has romantic feelings for Nico, and discovers he was under a curse cast by her that made him see her only as a friend. However, recent events have allowed him to understand that he loves her too. As Nico’s final spell takes effect within him, Morihito is finally able to express his feelings and confesses his love.
The story takes a turn when Nico starts to wonder if Morihito confessed his feelings because of the spell. Thankfully, Morihito assures her his feelings are genuine, though he’s concerned the upcoming battles will make a real relationship impossible for now. He feels Nico is in too much danger for them to focus on dating, and they both hope to start a relationship “officially” once everything is over. Despite this, Nico isn’t willing to wait and starts making her feelings known.
What Does This Mean for Witch Watch’s Future?

Even though Nico’s safety concerns still limit how openly she and her boyfriend can date, she’s playfully hinted at their relationship on social media. Friends have noticed her dropping clues on Instagram, and her boyfriend doesn’t seem to mind the subtle reveals. Despite the danger she’s facing, Nico is clearly very happy and eager to pursue a relationship whenever possible.
Morihito seems to be focusing on what’s ahead and preparing for upcoming challenges, but he’s also becoming closer to Nico after recently sharing his feelings. The chapter ends with them holding hands, solidifying their romantic connection. As Witch Watch nears its conclusion, along with other popular series from the early 2020s like The Elusive Samurai and Sakamoto Days, everyone is bracing for a final, intense arc.
