Shonen Jump Has Decided the Big 6 of Anime’s New Era

First published in 1968, Weekly Shonen Jump has become the most popular manga magazine ever, thanks to iconic series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. Even today, it remains a leader in the manga world, launching modern hits such as Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia. Remarkably, 12 out of the 23 manga series that have sold over 100 million copies were originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump. The magazine is famous for being the home of the “Shonen Big Three,” a period widely considered the Golden Age of Shonen manga. While the impact of the Big Three will always be felt, a new generation of series is now stepping into the spotlight.

The manga industry, particularly the ‘Shonen’ genre, has changed a lot recently. New series tend to be quicker-paced and don’t run for as long as older, classic titles. 2025 has been a challenging year for Weekly Shonen Jump (WSJ), with several series ending and new ones taking their place as the magazine adapts to these changes. However, WSJ still has several exciting new series that should keep it popular for some time. Recently, a popular fan account on X (@ShonenSalto) shared promotional artwork highlighting the six most promising series currently running in the magazine.

These Six Most Promising Shonen Jump Series Will Get Their Anime Before Long

Shonen Jump is highlighting several promising new manga series: Nue’s Exorcist by Kouta Kawae, Kagurabachi by Takeru Hokazono, Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi by Shouichi Usi, Hima-Ten by Genki Ono, Ichi the Witch by Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki, and Shinobi Undercover by Ippon Takegushi and Santa Misarashi. These series, all launched after 2022, are performing well and showing more potential than many of the magazine’s other current titles.

While Kagurabachi and Ichi the Witch are currently the most talked-about series, the other four are also gaining attention. Although none of these manga have been adapted into anime yet, it’s very likely they will be in the future. An anime adaptation would not only increase their popularity but also allow fans to experience the story in a new way.

Given how much Shonen Jump is investing in these new series, it’s clear they have high hopes for all six. While they might not reach the level of the legendary ‘Big Three,’ this is a great start, and it’s always good to showcase so many promising manga. You can read all of these series on the Manga Plus app and purchase the volumes from Viz Media’s website.
