Takeru Hokazono’s manga, Kagurabachi, which debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, has quickly become incredibly popular and continues to grow. As Hokazono’s first series, its success is particularly noteworthy. The captivating story immediately drew readers in, and it’s now one of the most successful new manga in the magazine – all without even having an anime adaptation yet. As of October 2025, over 3 million copies have been sold, and that number is rapidly increasing.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about the upcoming anime! I truly believe it’s going to send this manga through the roof – it has the potential to become even more popular than a lot of other big names in Shonen Jump. We’re already at 121 chapters, with the latest one dropping on February 15th, 2026, and the first major story arc has just wrapped up, setting the stage for a brand new adventure! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
When Will Kagurabachi Release Its Part 2?

The manga recently finished its first story arc, but will continue releasing new chapters without a break. Chapter 113, which starts a new arc, is scheduled for release on February 22, 2026. While the total number of story parts hasn’t been announced, it’s likely there will be two, following a common pattern. Kagurabachi will reach its third anniversary in 2026, and based on the current pace, the series might run for another two to four years.
Many recent hit series in Shonen Jump, like Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer, haven’t lasted for very long, and Kagurabachi might be similar. The series is currently divided into three parts, with the most recent, the Sword Bearer Assassination arc, being the longest so far. As this arc ends, Chihiro makes significant progress toward his lifelong goal and strives to be more like his father.
Will Kagurabachi Release an Anime Adaptation?

People have been speculating about an anime adaptation since 2024, but it hasn’t been officially announced. Given how popular the series is, many believe an announcement is coming soon, potentially this year. A report from Toyo Keizai in December 2024 suggested that CygamesPictures, a collaboration between CyberAgent and Shochiku Production, is developing the anime.
Earlier this year, the animation studio also announced they’ll be making a big reveal at AnimeJapan 2026, which will be held in Tokyo on March 28th and 29th. This news has renewed excitement about a possible anime adaptation. Considering Shonen Jump usually waits over two years to announce an anime series, fans believe the timing is right for this long-awaited announcement.
