Shonen Jump’s Hottest Series Has a Disappointing Anime Update For Fans

Despite not yet having an anime series, Kagurabachi is already a huge hit in Weekly Shonen Jump. Since its release in September 2023, the manga quickly gained popularity, going viral after just the first chapter. By October 2025, over 3 million copies had been circulated, and sales have continued to climb rapidly. The series now has a large and dedicated global fanbase who are hoping for an anime adaptation. While an anime seems very likely, there hasn’t been an official announcement. Recently, the official Weekly Shonen Jump manga account on X (formerly Twitter) briefly shared news of a newly created X account for a Kagurabachi anime before deleting the post.

I saw a lot of buzz online recently about a new account, @/kgbc_anime, and many people thought it had something to do with an anime adaptation of a popular manga. The account was quickly taken down, but not before fans got really excited about a potential announcement. Unfortunately, @WSJ_manga later clarified that the account wasn’t connected to the anime at all. It was a misunderstanding that spread quickly, and it really let a lot of people down who were hoping for good news. Though it might take a bit longer than expected, there’s still a chance we’ll hear about an anime confirmation sometime this year.

Kagurabachi’s Anime Is All But Guaranteed

Despite a recent rumor being debunked, the anime adaptation of Kagurabachi has been a popular topic since 2024. Fans are hoping for new information at AnimeJapan 2026, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight in Tokyo on March 28th and 29th. The convention will feature over 120 exhibitors, including major anime companies like Aniplex, KADOKAWA, TOHO animation, and Bandai Namco Filmworks.

The exhibition’s website lists all participating companies, including the anime studio CyberAgent. For months, fans have been speculating that CyberAgent will be adapting the popular manga series, Kagurabachi, and these rumors started gaining traction in early 2024.

What Is Kagurabachi About?

The story follows Chihiro Rokuhira as he seeks revenge for his father’s murder. After inheriting his father’s famous sword, Chihiro embarks on a dangerous quest to track down the sorcerer group responsible and recover the stolen blades. The series is filled with action and explores themes of family, tradition, and the power of fate.

The manga finished its first section in February and immediately began Part 2 with a new story arc. The first section was made up of three arcs, the last of which, ‘Sword Bearer Assassination,’ was the most extensive. As that arc ends, the story takes a significant turn, and Chihiro makes important progress toward fulfilling his lifelong ambition and becoming more like his father.
