The anime Mission: Yozakura Family, a surprisingly great series from 2024 based on the manga by Hitsuji Gondaira, will share some exciting news this month. The original manga, which began in 2019, was popular for its heartwarming story about family, mixed with action and humor – a common formula for series in Weekly Shonen Jump. The anime premiered in April 2024 with 27 episodes and quickly earned a second season, which was announced with a trailer. While fans know the new season will arrive in 2026, details have been scarce. The story centers on Taiyo Asano, who became shy and withdrawn after losing his family in an accident and having trouble connecting with others.
Taiyo and his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura, are facing a difficult situation because of Mutsumi’s powerful family. Kyoichiro Yozakura, the head of the family and Taiyo’s vice principal, sees Taiyo as a danger to Mutsumi and proposes a marriage to protect her. To ensure their safety and protect Mutsumi, Taiyo agrees and begins training to become a spy for the Yozakura family. Fans are eagerly awaiting news about Season 2, with important updates expected in December.
Mission: Yozakura Family Set to Share New Announcement in December
I noticed the anime’s official X account announced something big is coming on December 15th, 2025, at 6 PM Japan time. We don’t know exactly what it is yet, but it seems to be about the next season. They might even give us a release date or a new trailer! I also saw the series had a presence at this year’s Jump Festa, which is a huge anime and manga convention put on by Shueisha. It’s where a lot of popular Shonen series share updates on what they’re working on, especially content from magazines like Weekly Shonen Jump, Jump Square, V Jump, Saikyo Jump, and the Shonen Jump+ online platform.
Jump Festa 2025 will be held on December 20th and 21st, and attendees can look forward to the latest news on popular series. A panel for Mission: Yozakura Family is scheduled for the first day, from 12:50 PM to 1:20 PM JST, with details about Season 2 being revealed. The voice actors for Taiyo Asano (Reiji Kawashima), Mutsumi Yozakura (Kaede Hondo), Kyoichiro Yozakura (Katsuyuki Konishi), and Niba Yozakura (Akari Kito) will also be present.
The manga finished in January of this year, with the final volume, number 29, released in March 2025. Currently, 20 volumes are available in English, both as physical copies and digitally, on Viz Media’s website. You can also read the chapters on Viz Media and the Manga Plus app. The anime is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+, so be sure to watch Season 1 before Season 2 comes out.
