Should Any Absolute DC Characters Replace the Main Universe Versions? (I Have An Answer Fans Won’t Like)

DC’s Absolute Universe is their most ambitious alternate reality project yet, and they’re really going all-out with it. The story centers around a world corrupted by Darkseid, where heroes struggle more than ever to do good. It quickly gained attention for its clever and imaginative reimagining of iconic DC characters. While the characters’ fundamental traits remain, they’ve been stripped down and rebuilt to fit the darker setting, actually enhancing their heroic qualities.

Fans are really enjoying the fresh takes on classic heroes like Wonder Woman and Batman. Superman is back to being a champion for those in need, and the new version of Martian Manhunter is a huge hit. While these updates are great, most of us wouldn’t want them to completely replace the original characters. However, there’s one hero where a permanent switch would be a fantastic improvement.

The Best the Joker Has Been In Years

The Joker is a legendary villain, so suggesting we switch him with his ‘Absolute’ version might seem radical. However, it could be just what the character needs. Over the past ten years, the Joker has become less compelling – he’s gone from being Batman’s greatest enemy and a fun character to read about, to someone many fans are tired of seeing. He’s lost his charm and wit, becoming an exaggerated and overblown version of his former self. The current Joker relies too much on flashy displays and lacks depth, and that’s precisely why the Absolute Joker could be a perfect fit.

Though he hasn’t faced his Batman yet, this new Joker is already generating a lot of excitement. He’s a remarkably consistent character with clear motivations that go beyond simple violence. He’s driven and passionate – you can really feel it, especially in his speech when forming the Absolute Justice League in *Absolute Evil*. That speech perfectly captures the unsettling yet captivating energy that makes him so compelling.

The creators have introduced a new, formidable Joker – the Absolute Joker – while still maintaining the core villainous nature of the character. While I’d enjoy seeing the original Joker at his best again, replacing him with the Absolute Joker would be a great decision. It would give Batman a fresh challenge, as this new Joker possesses equal resources and skills. The resulting conflict would be unlike anything we’ve seen before, pushing both Batman and the Joker to their limits in a truly exciting way.
