Sia Makes Rare Public Outing Without Signature Bangs

Sia is proving she’s unstoppable no matter her hairstyle.

Sia, the singer famous for her signature bangs that cover the top half of her face, was seen in public on November 8th without them.

A 49-year-old was seen leaving Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party in Beverly Hills. The party was held at the home of Jeff and Lauren Sánchez Bezos and featured a star-studded guest list, including Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Adele, and Kris Jenner’s children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner.

I was so thrilled to see Sia out and about! She looked amazing – she wore this long, black Prada jacket, kind of like a windbreaker, with black sunglasses and a baseball cap. Her long blonde braid was slung over her shoulder, and she had these beautiful black and gold earrings. But the best part? She was beaming! For once, we could actually see her whole face, and that smile just lit everything up.

Sia has become more comfortable showing her face in recent years, even sharing her facelift results in 2023. However, during her rise to fame as a solo artist in the 2010s, she consistently hid behind her bangs. This was a deliberate choice to protect her privacy and keep her identity personal.

She told James Corden in 2016 that she only wears the outfit when she knows she’ll be photographed. She explained it’s her way of keeping a little bit of privacy.

She never actually sought fame. When she started gaining recognition, she was primarily focused on writing pop songs. So, as her profile began to rise, she used a wig as a way to maintain some privacy. As she explained in a 2013 article for Billboard, if people who weren’t famous understood what it was like to be in the public eye, they likely wouldn’t want it.

Despite past difficulties, Sia has found support and friendship with the Kardashians. Her connection with the sisters started in 2018 when she met Kim while collaborating with Jennifer Lopez on the song “Limitless.” Kim then introduced Sia to Khloe and Kourtney, and helped promote the song at the time.

Sia described feeling very secure when she spent Sundays with the Kardashian family and their friends. She shared on the Karson & Kennedy Talk with Famous People podcast in 2020 that Kim Kardashian was particularly protective, always stepping in to prevent people from asking for photos or trying to video chat with her using their children.

“I love those girls,” she added. “When I met them, I felt safe.”
