Bloober Team has revealed that the remake of Silent Hill is now being actively developed by one of its core teams. This project, alongside another currently unannounced game, is now the primary focus for the Polish game developer.
The information came out during a conversation with investors, featuring CEO Piotr Babieno and Vice President Karolina Nowak. When asked about the studio’s future plans, leadership stated: “We have two internal development teams. One is currently focused on a remake of Silent Hill 1, and the other has started a new project. Additionally, our external team is working on five different projects.”
Though still in the early stages of production, Bloober Team has confirmed they are recreating the original Silent Hill game from the PS1. This was revealed in a short teaser video that only showed the game’s name and its iconic theme song. Back in June, the company stated, “We are currently working with Bloober Team on a remake of SILENT HILL, which was released for PlayStation in 1999.” This news has excited fans of the classic horror title.
As a big fan, I’m really excited about the future of Silent Hill! After the fantastic remake of Silent Hill 2 and the recent, and pretty great, release of Silent Hill F, I’m hoping this positive momentum carries over to both it and Silent Hill: Townfall. It feels like the series is finally getting the attention it deserves!
Regarding Bloober Team’s Cronos: The New Dawn, released last month, reports indicate the new game was a “huge success,” with the majority of sales coming from console platforms. Currently, there are no plans for downloadable content (DLC) or a sequel that are actively being worked on. However, the developer is “definitely thinking about developing” further content within the Cronos universe.
In a follow-up statement, they explained: “Cronos represents our initial significant intellectual property. While the team responsible for its creation is now starting a new project, we absolutely intend to continue expanding on Cronos in the future, exploring diverse avenues for its use. We are very optimistic about its potential.”
In our Cronos: The New Dawn PS5 review, we gave the horror game an 8/10 and stated: “It borrows from other games in many ways, particularly in its gameplay and overall feel. But Bloober Team has added enough unique personality, interesting details, and strangeness to make it stand out – it’s actually quite charming. With stunning graphics, a mesmerizing soundtrack, and a gripping, dark story about time travel, Cronos: The New Dawn is a truly enjoyable sci-fi horror experience.”
