Silent Hill 2 was originally released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive for a limited time, and that period is now finishing.
All the original marketing for the popular game from Bloober Team included a note from Sony stating it would only be available on consoles for one year after it launched.
The game first came out on October 8th, 2024, and as of today, its initial contract is ending in just two days.
Okay, so I was just reading about this, and it seems like Rebs Gaming over on YouTube spotted something really interesting on the game’s website. They noticed spaces for logos of two more platforms! Everyone’s guessing those are for the Xbox Series X|S and the new Switch 2. It’s super exciting if true!
That all makes sense, and it’s likely Konami will want to build on the game’s success after its launch on PlayStation 5 and PC.
It will be interesting to see if the release on multiple platforms brings improvements to the PlayStation 5 version. Konami still needs to address issues with how the game runs on the PS5 Pro, and it seems the development team, Bloober Team, is no longer working on those fixes.
