Reviews for the new *Silent Hill f* are out, and they suggest Konami’s iconic horror series is making a strong comeback. Fans were worried about the game after being let down by previous titles like *Silent Hill: The Short Message*, *Silent Hill: Homecoming*, and *Silent Hill: Downpour*. However, early reviews indicate *Silent Hill f* is a worthy addition to the franchise, building excitement for its release later this week.
As of today, Silent Hill f has received almost 100 reviews from different sources, and most of them are positive. This has given the game a solid score of 85/100 on Metacritic. While this score may shift as more reviews come in, the general opinion is that Silent Hill f successfully reinvents the series while still honoring its roots. Critics seem split on the combat system, but widely agree that the game delivers on its horror elements.
How Does Silent Hill f Stack Up to Other Silent Hill Games?

Although *Silent Hill f*’s score of 85/100 likely won’t earn it Game of the Year recognition, it’s the highest-rated *Silent Hill* game in over two decades. Excluding last year’s *Silent Hill 2* remake (which also scored 86/100), *Silent Hill f* is the strongest new addition to the series since *Silent Hill 3* in 2003, which received an 85/100. Currently, the only *Silent Hill* game with a higher average review score is the original *Silent Hill 2*, often hailed as one of the greatest horror games of all time.
It looks like Konami has a promising future planned for the Silent Hill series, which is fantastic news considering the difficulties it’s faced over the last decade or so. Besides *Silent Hill f*, they’re also working on a remake of the very first *Silent Hill* game, developed by Bloober Team, the studio behind the *Silent Hill 2* remake. A brand new game, *Silent Hill: Townfall*, is also in development, though not much is known about it yet. With *Silent Hill f* launching very soon, we’ll likely learn more about *Townfall* in the coming weeks and months.
Silent Hill f comes out this Friday, September 25th, and will be available to play on PlayStation 5 and PC.
