The Shimizu Residence is a location in Silent Hill f that you’ll explore near the end of the game. Because it’s so close to the finale, it’s a tough area with dangerous monsters and tricky puzzles. This guide will walk you through everything you need to do to get through it!
Shimizu Residence Walkthrough | Silent Hill f
When you first come inside, head straight down the hallway. You might be a little startled by the phone call, but keep going! At the end, you’ll find a door with three slots for crests – that’s the main puzzle for this area. You won’t be able to solve it just yet, so just remember it for later.
Right now, simply go to the southwest corner of the house. You’ll see a red door with a Calendar hanging on it. Take the Calendar, and then go back to the door with the crests on it.
Turn to face the doorway, then look at the wall on your left. You’ll see a hook there – use it to hang the Calendar. This will activate the door to your left, opening a path to a different part of the house.
Scale Puzzle
You’ve arrived at the Shimizu Residence II, so now simply go to the room in the very northwest corner. You’ll see a table with a scale and some wooden dolls on it. Interact with the table to begin a short puzzle.
It looks like the way to solve this puzzle doesn’t depend on how hard it is. Instead, the solution changes depending on which specific ending you’re trying to achieve.
If you’re new to this puzzle, simply put the damaged doll on one plate and the four good dolls on the other. This will balance the plates and reveal a hidden compartment containing the Scales Plate.
For the other New Game+ exclusive endings, there are these potential solutions:
- The Fox Wets Its Tail – School Girl and Half-Mask Girl on one plate. Old Man, Fox Mask, and Headless on the other.
- Fox’s Wedding – Old Man, Fox Mask, School Girl on one plate. Headless, and Half-Mask Girl on the other.
- Ebisugaoka in Silence – School Girl on one plate. All remaining 4 dolls on the other plate.
Get the Photo and Second Calendar
Now that you have the first emblem, you need to find two more items within the house. The first one is the Picture Frame, located in the storage room in the southeastern corner. But remember, it’s not just the frame itself that matters!
Next, head to the living room, which is located in the center of the house. Once inside, you’ll see a cutscene play. After that, pick up another Calendar from the table. Just like before, take this Calendar to the furthest door on the left side of the house and hang it on the hook. This will unlock access to Shimizu Residence III.
Shimizu Residence III
When you get to the third part of the house, walk straight ahead, passing the Hokora. Then, enter the first room you can open on your right – it’s the same room that had the crest door in the first part of the house.
Go into the room and look at the shelf in the corner furthest from the door. Check the book on the very bottom shelf – open it to find the Block of Wax.
Next, exit the room and head west, making your way around until you reach the kitchen – it’s the room at the very south end. Once inside, take the Propane Tube from the table covered in blood that’s right in front of you.
Don’t forget to pick up the Furoshiki near the entrance! It’s a rare item that lets you increase your inventory space.
When you’ve finished up here, return to the furthest door on the northwest side to go back to Shimizu Residence I. You won’t need a Calendar to do so!
Ominous Photo Puzzle
Now that you’re back in Shimizu Residence I, head to the photo room. You can find it on the map – it’s located in the northwest section of the residence.
Hang the photo frame you found on the empty wall space. Then, take a look at the group photo on the west wall. Notice which people have had their heads marked – this is the key to solving the puzzle.
Simply find the people who are highlighted, then go to their pictures. Interact with each picture to flip it over so it’s upside down. Do this for everyone who’s marked, and you’ll be finished! The exact steps can change depending on the ending you’re aiming for, but here are the possible ways to solve it:
- Coming Home to Roost (Standard Ending) – Flip Hinako’s photo.
- The Fox Wets Its Tail – Flip Rinko’s and Hinako’s photos.
- Fox’s Wedding – Flip Rinko’s, Shu’s, and Sakuko’s photos.
- Ebisugaoka in Silence – Flip all photos except Hinako’s.
If you’ve completed the previous step correctly, you should hear and see the group photo come down. This will uncover the White Bird and Fox Plate, which is the second crest you need to collect!
Fletchling Key and Room
Now that’s finished, head to the kitchen in the first Shimizu Residence. It’s the room furthest south, just like before.
Go to the stove and use it to connect the Propane Tube. Then, use the stove again to melt the Block of Wax. This will uncover the Fletchling Key, which was hidden inside!
Now that you have the item, return to the Calendar door at the far northwest. Then, go through Shimizu Residence II to return to Shimizu Residence III.
In Shimizu Residence III, head to the locked door at the south end of the house. It’s across from the kitchen. Use your Fletchling Key on the door to unlock and open it.
Enter the room to see another painful memory for Hinako. While you’re there, don’t forget to take the Black Bird and Sword Plate from the table. You can also find a Yokan in the room if you want it!
The Crests | My Room Puzzle
You’ve collected all three crests needed to open the crest door you found earlier in this area. Now, return to the Shimizu Residence I by using the calendar doors and interact with the door to insert the crests.
The answer to this puzzle, like others in this part of the game, depends on the ending you want to achieve. Here are the possible solutions:
- Coming Home to Roost
- Top: Heavens
- Left: Swords
- Right: Fox
- Bottom: Blank (Scales)
- The Fox Wets Its Tail
- Top: Swords
- Left: White Bird
- Right: Scales
- Bottom: Blank (Heavens)
- Fox’s Wedding
- Top: Fox
- Left: Scales
- Right: Black Bird
- Bottom: Blank (Heavens)
- Ebisugaoka in Silence
- Top: Blank (Scales)
- Left: White Bird
- Right: Black Bird
- Bottom: Heavens
Don’t forget that each crest has a front and back! You’ll need to turn at least one of them over to solve the puzzle, so keep that in mind as you work through it.
After solving the puzzle, you’ll be able to enter Hinako’s room. Go to her desk and take the Pine Tree Emblem, then exit the room.
Once you’ve done that, return to the red door where you initially found the Calendar. Use the Pine Tree Emblem to unlock it, and then simply proceed down the hallways.
Make sure to collect supplies as you go, and don’t forget to use the Horoka you discover. A boss is waiting at the end of the hall, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to defeat. Once you beat the boss, a cutscene will play, completing this part of the game.
So, that’s pretty much everything you need to explore the Shimizu Residence in Silent Hill f! We talked about how the different endings change things up and affect the puzzles you’ll encounter. If you’re curious about getting all the endings yourself, good news – we’ve actually put together a guide to help you with that, too!
