Silent Hill f’s PS5 Pro Issues Explained

Silent Hill f is a great addition to the beloved horror series, successfully bringing it back after a long wait. However, some players hoping for the best possible experience on the PS5 Pro have encountered issues. The new game moves the terrifying action to a former mining town in 1960s Japan. Taking advantage of modern console technology, Silent Hill f looks stunning, with sharp graphics that really showcase the game’s strong artistic style. This visual appeal is one of the game’s biggest strengths, creating a creepy, beautiful, and immersive world that draws players in.

Early players using the PlayStation 5 Pro have noticed a problem with *Silent Hill f*. The game’s graphics settings can’t be adjusted, and this seems to be causing visual glitches and gameplay disruptions on the console. This isn’t the first time this has happened with a PS5 Pro game, but it’s particularly noticeable in *Silent Hill f* because the game’s atmosphere and visuals are so important.

Why Silent Hill f Is Suffering On PS5 Pro

Digital Foundry recently discovered some problems with the PlayStation 5 version of *Silent Hill f* that affect both how the game looks and plays. On a regular PS5, players can choose between two modes: Quality (30 frames per second) for better visuals, or Performance (60fps) for smoother gameplay. However, the upcoming PS5 Pro version forces players into an Enhanced mode that’s always upscaling the graphics. While this is intended to improve the game’s appearance beyond what’s available on the standard PS5, it’s causing some issues.

The PS5 Pro’s enhanced upscaling keeps the game running smoothly at 60 frames per second. However, this puts a strain on the graphics, sometimes causing visual issues like flickering lights or shimmering textures. This is especially noticeable in a game like *Silent Hill f*, where creating a truly unsettling atmosphere is crucial for the horror experience.

One problem is that the regular PS5 sometimes lowers the game’s resolution to as low as 360p when running in performance mode. This helps the game run smoothly, but at the cost of visual clarity. The more powerful PS5 Pro attempts to improve this by increasing the resolution from 720p to 4K, but this seems to create new issues with the game’s engine and its AI upscaling technology. Ironically, this makes *Silent Hill f* appear more flawed on the upgraded console.

Silent Hill f’s PS5 Pro Problems Hurt The Game Experience

Gamers have faced similar problems with previous Konami games on the PS5 Pro. The 2024 remake of *Silent Hill 2* had many of the same issues, and *Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater* actually ran worse on the PS5 Pro than on the regular PlayStation 5. This is particularly frustrating with *Silent Hill f*, because the game relies heavily on its atmosphere, world design, and graphics to create a compelling experience.

The game is visually stunning on the PlayStation 5, creating a truly unsettling and beautiful atmosphere. This immersive world draws players in and maintains a constant sense of tension. While the graphics aren’t *quite* as sharp as the upscaled version, the real issue is occasional technical glitches. These interruptions pull you out of the moment, disrupting the atmosphere and lessening the impact of tense scenes.

As a big fan, I’m a little bummed to say that these little stutters are actually making the game harder to enjoy, especially in the PS5 Pro version. The amazing graphics seem to be overloading things, causing frustrating delays during fights. I’ve seen similar problems in games like Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but those games let you turn down the visual quality to fix it. Sadly, Silent Hill f doesn’t have that option yet. I’m really hoping they release a patch soon, because if not, players who want the smoothest experience might have to play an older version of the game.

Silent Hill f will be widely available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S starting September 25, 2025. Players who pre-order will be able to access the game a couple of days earlier, on September 23.
