The Silent Hill series isn’t likely to disappear anytime soon. It was hugely popular in the 2000s and, along with Resident Evil, helped establish the survival horror genre. Both series eventually struggled with newer installments, leading to attempts at reinvention. Unfortunately, Silent Hill’s planned reboot was cancelled. Hideo Kojima had ambitious plans to change the series with a first-person perspective, a concept successfully demonstrated in the P.T. demo. But, for various reasons, the game was ultimately scrapped, and Silent Hill remained dormant for almost ten years.
The Silent Hill series saw a strong comeback with the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2. While the remake was well-received, it remained to be seen if Konami could create a truly new and successful installment. They proved they could with Silent Hill f in 2025, which received widespread praise from both fans and critics, even earning a nomination at The Game Awards. Now, all eyes are on Silent Hill: Townfall, which is currently anticipated to launch around 2026.
Silent Hill Will Release a New Game Every Year, Says Producer

Despite being newly released, Townfall isn’t expected to be the last Silent Hill game. Konami producer Motoi Okamoto has stated the company plans to release a new game in the series annually, and they’ve already achieved this for the past two years. This indicates Townfall is likely to be available by next autumn.
Okamoto stated that after launching Silent Hill 2 in October 2024, they successfully released Silent Hill f in September 2025, marking a strong return for the series. Their goal is to release roughly one Silent Hill game each year, including both previously announced and surprise new titles. While they acknowledge maintaining this pace will be challenging, they’re committed to doing their best as the series producer. Ultimately, they want to keep fans consistently excited about Silent Hill and promise to share more updates soon.
Konami isn’t forcing a strict, unified vision like with the Call of Duty franchise, but they are definitely building a system for future Silent Hill games. They’re bringing in several developers to create new entries, and the recent games show they’re open to experimenting with different styles and ideas. We’ve already seen they’re willing to try first-person and third-person perspectives, and explore new settings, like in Silent Hill f. This approach should help keep the series fresh, but it remains to be seen if all these different projects will be successful.
I’m really excited to hear that the original Silent Hill is getting a remake by Bloober Team – they did a fantastic job with the second game! It’s a bit of a mystery whether they’ll get to remake any more Silent Hill titles after this one, or even if they’d be interested, but it definitely feels like a good sign for the future of the series.
