Silent Hill: Townfall Composer Revealed, As “Home” Track Conjures That Ethereal Feeling

After being announced and widely discussed in February, Screen Burn Interactive’s Silent Hill: Townfall is starting to come into focus, giving fans a clearer sense of its style and atmosphere. The release of the track “Home” from the game’s soundtrack also reveals the composer – and it’s not the familiar name of Akira Yamaoka.

The artist is actually Anthony Scott Burns, who also goes by Pilotpriest and works as a filmmaker. He’s been creating music for over thirty years, releasing six albums starting in 2012. His album “Trans” has an electronic sound, but it’s notably atmospheric, darker, and more dreamlike than typical electronic music.

As a big fan, I noticed something really cool in the track “Home” (especially the acoustic version). Someone pointed out that it subtly reminds you of “Promise” from Silent Hill 2 – that beautiful, haunting song – but it quickly builds into something much more powerful, all driven by just a piano. And honestly, all the little details and sounds of St. Amelia’s Hospital really add to the overall feeling of dread and weight.

The new horror game, Silent Hill: Townfall, is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC later this year. Publisher Annapurna Interactive says it’s their largest and most ambitious project to date, and the game’s director, John McKellan, calls it a tribute to the Silent Hill series. While Best Buy has listed the price as $49.99, the official price hasn’t been announced yet, so keep an eye out for more details.
