Silent Night, Deadly Night ending explained: Rohan Campbell breaks down what happens to Billy and Pam

Forty years after becoming a beloved favorite among horror fans, the classic film Silent Night, Deadly Night is being updated for a new generation, and will star Rohan Campbell, known for his role in Halloween Ends.

Okay, so if you’re a fan of the original ‘A Christmas Story’ – and honestly, who isn’t? – you probably know the basic story. It’s about this kid, Billy, whose parents are tragically murdered right on Christmas Eve. That trauma shapes him, and he ends up becoming a killer… who dresses as Santa Claus. It’s a pretty dark twist on a holiday classic, to say the least!

This new take on the story shows Billy continuing his yearly tradition of chaotic holiday outbursts, but this time, he finds love with Pam (Ruby Modine). She pushes him to deal with the troubling parts of himself.

He explained that the show starts with familiar elements to draw you in, but then deliberately veers into unexpected and darker areas. He finds this shift particularly compelling, as it follows the journeys of two troubled characters, Billy and Pam, whose internal struggles eventually lead to chaotic and unpredictable events.

Okay, so buckle up, because “Silent Night, Deadly Night” throws a lot of surprises your way. I was genuinely kept guessing until the very end! The big question, of course, is whether Billy ends up repeating the tragic path of the first film? I’m Rohan Campbell, and I’m here to break down that shockingly gory finale for you.

Silent Night, Deadly Night ending explained

Pam tells Billy she desperately wants to confront her father’s killer and inflict serious harm. Billy then shocks her by saying he can arrange it – his new mission is to find and kill a man known as Snatcher.

From the beginning of the movie, there were rumors about a mysterious character called The Snatcher, primarily that he kidnapped children.

Billy later tells Pam a disturbing story from his past: when he was a child, he witnessed his parents being murdered by a man in a Santa suit. The killer was revealed to be the janitor at the nursing home where his grandfather lived.

Okay, so this is where the movie really takes a turn! It gets pretty strange when Billy touches the guy attacking him. Suddenly, it looks like electricity jumps from the attacker into Billy, and then… well, he starts hearing a voice inside his head. It’s a total mind-trip moment!

As he explains his murderous ways, Pam hardly bats an eyelid.

She described how someone said he ‘matched her freak’ that day. For her, it was simply enjoyable to be in a space where she was dealing with the loss of her father, feeling angry and frustrated, and also navigating a separate, underlying mystery. She liked that this created an opportunity for him to enthusiastically share his thoughts, and for her to connect with him, trust him, and go along with it – it was a really engaging dynamic.

While investigating an abandoned building, Pam and Billy stumble upon a disturbing sight: a ball pit with a child inside, whose hands are bound with a zip tie. This discovery reveals the secret lair of the Snatcher.

While attempting to rescue the children near the ball pit, Pam is captured by the Snatcher and pulled deeper inside.

Charlie, a voice only Billy can hear, directs him to locate Pam and plan an attack. During the confrontation where Billy defeats the Snatcher, he’s wounded himself, forcing Pam to escape and seek assistance.

What happens to Billy?

Billy managed to escape the Snatcher, but he’s seriously injured and needs immediate medical attention.

Just when Billy starts to believe he has a chance, he’s suddenly confronted by Max, Pam’s ex and a police officer, who immediately shoots and kills him.

As he died, Billy reached for Pam’s hand and, mirroring an event from his childhood, sent an electrical shock through her, causing her to lose consciousness.

What happens to Pam?

Max hurried to her side, fearing the worst, but when she regained consciousness, Pam experienced brief visions of Max’s history. She then shockingly bit off his nose and, grabbing Billy’s axe, killed him.

Then, Pam hears Billy say “hey,” but it’s not actually him – it’s his voice inside her head, similar to how Charlie’s voice lived on in Billy’s mind.

“Are you ready for this?” Billy asks as Pam smiles, before the credits appear.

You know, when I first read that last scene, I just burst out laughing! It was so clever. I immediately called Mike and told him how brilliant it was – what a fantastic way to end the story. I especially loved how they used the ‘voice in her head’ idea. It felt like a fresh, new take on the original, and it was so cool to see what Ruby did with it. Honestly, I just had a blast reading it.

Silent Night, Deadly Night is released in UK cinemas on Friday 12th December 2025.
