Season 29 of Silent Witness is currently airing, following Nikki, Jack, and the team as they adjust to their new base in Birmingham after relocating from London.
Even with the changes in setting, the investigations are still incredibly difficult and intricate, and this will likely strain the personal lives of those involved, according to Emilia Fox.
Looking back at all my work, I’ve noticed each series has a central idea, and the most recent one was really focused on love, she said.
Throughout this series, the central idea explores the concept of trust – what we choose to believe and what’s genuinely real. This idea appears in stories about artificial intelligence and also in personal relationships, and it plays a major role in several of Jack’s storylines.
Last time, Jack accidentally got involved with a far-right group, and while he was able to get out, the episode ended with a worrying sign just as he and Nikki were settling into their new house.
David Caves explained that the challenges of Jack’s job deeply impact him, and this season really shows that. Jack faces a difficult, deeply personal journey that he has to navigate on his own.
Silent Witness typically broadcasts on BBC One and iPlayer on Mondays, but recent scheduling has been a little unclear. One episode had to be moved to a different date because of a real-life event.
Death in Paradise was also shown on Monday, February 16th, after its usual slot was changed because of a football match in the FA Cup.
There are still four episodes left in this series. Here’s when you can watch them on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
