A significant streaming problem has affected a number of sci-fi series on Apple TV, but a recent production update for Silo season 4 appears to have resolved it.
Following the completion of season 3, filming for season 4 of Silo has also finished. While season 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, Apple TV+ filmed both seasons back-to-back. Although this isn’t unusual for TV shows, it could lead to some noteworthy developments for Silo.
It’s still unclear why the show filmed its next two seasons consecutively, but this filming approach could potentially address a worrying pattern seen in streaming viewership.
Silo Upcoming Seasons’ Back-To-Back Filming Solves A Concerning Streaming Trend
It’s become common for TV shows, particularly in science fiction, to have long breaks between seasons. Apple TV is known for this, with popular shows like Severance taking significant time off the air. The third season of Silo is also delayed, and while we know it’s planned for Summer 2026, a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Good news for fans of Silo: season 4 is expected to arrive soon after season 3 finishes airing on Apple TV+.
Filming for season 3 of Silo finished in May 2023, meaning it’s likely nearing completion of post-production. Now that season 4 has also finished filming, work on its post-production will begin shortly, potentially allowing it to premiere soon after season 3. This could mean Silo will release new seasons much faster than many other science fiction shows currently do.
As a huge fan of Silo, I’m really excited to hear they filmed seasons two and three back-to-back! It sounds like we won’t have to wait ages between releases, which is a massive relief. So many shows get held up, but it looks like Silo is avoiding that problem – and that’s fantastic news for us viewers.
While season 2 of Silo had some issues with its speed and how characters grew, it ultimately delivered a strong finish. The fact that the next seasons are being filmed immediately doesn’t promise they’ll avoid the same problems, but it should help keep the story consistent and moving forward.
Reduced Waiting Time Between Silo’s Seasons 3 & 4 Makes Its Future Even More Exciting
The popular series Silo will conclude after four seasons. The upcoming two seasons will be the last ones. Notably, the ending of Silo season 2 mirrors the conclusion of Wool, the first book in the original trilogy by Hugh Howey. It took the Apple TV series two seasons to adapt the story from the first Silo book.
The show expanded on the original story, making a direct, one-book-per-season adaptation impossible. However, going forward, Silo will need to adapt one book per season because it only has two books left to cover and just two seasons remaining.
This change could help the show tell a faster, more exciting story, something the second season didn’t consistently achieve. However, trying to cover too much story in just two seasons also risks becoming confusing and making future episodes difficult to understand.
It remains to be seen how the final two seasons of Silo will unfold, but releasing them closer together should create a smooth continuation of the story. This will help keep the show’s large audience engaged by avoiding a long wait to find out how the major plotlines and characters develop.
If future episodes of Apple TV+’s Silo are released more quickly, the final part of the series will likely feel more unified and provide a satisfying, complete conclusion.
