Simu Liu, known for his role in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is currently starring in the sci-fi series The Copenhagen Test, available on Peacock. The show is set in the near future and follows an intelligence agent whose brain is hacked. Liu plays Alexander, a seemingly minor analyst working for a secretive government agency called the Orphanage. Despite being suspected of being a mole, Alexander must fight to prove his loyalty and uncover the person responsible for the hack.
The central idea of The Copenhagen Test is that you can always find a way to save everyone, avoiding the impossible choice of sacrificing one person to save another – it just requires the right approach. In a recent conversation with ComicBook, the author discussed a key plot twist involving who betrayed and hacked Alexander’s brain, and how this impacts his story going forward.
As a fan, I’m really intrigued by where they left Alexander at the end of the season. It feels like he’s just on the cusp of some amazing possibilities, and I’m hoping we get another season to see them play out. I especially loved seeing him take charge during that big action sequence near the finale – it was fantastic to see him finally empowered! And then that twist… it was brutal! I’m dying to know what happens next for him. Will he team up with Victor, or will he try to stop him? What’s his overall plan going to be? Honestly, I have no idea, but I know there’s a ton more story to explore with his character.
How Could The Copenhagen Test Play Out With a Second Season?

All eight episodes of The Copenhagen Test became available on Peacock on December 27, 2025. The season ends with Alexander facing a terrible choice: he must either rescue his parents and risk the Orphanage, or protect the agency and potentially lose his parents. Many viewers believe The Copenhagen Test is an excellent series with the potential for future seasons, each one presenting even greater challenges in devising a successful plan where everyone survives.
The season finale introduced a significant development that could pave the way for future seasons. Although Alexander is no longer controlled by the hack, the Orphanage discovered that others within the agency were also compromised. Several individuals received the Cassandra RU258 implant, giving someone access to their senses. At least five more hacked individuals have been identified: they are located in Mumbai, Plum Island, Truiabnam, the Sahara Desert, and one is currently hiking with their family. Additionally, Michelle (Melissa Barrera) remains under surveillance, and her life is still at risk.
The show has plenty of potential storylines remaining if it continues. A good starting point would be Alexander rescuing Michelle from the Orphanage and helping the other hacked individuals, drawing on his own experiences. Simu Liu also pointed out that Alexander needs to confront and heal from his own emotional trauma.
Given its strong performance, a second season of The Copenhagen Test is likely. The show racked up 1.1 billion views in the week after Christmas, making it the third most popular series – only behind Stranger Things and Landman. It even outperformed shows like Emily in Paris, The Pitt, and Fallout during that same period. While critics gave it a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers really enjoyed it, giving it an 82% score – which is more crucial for a streaming series. Considering its success, Peacock is expected to seriously consider renewing the show, and Simu Liu has expressed interest in returning.
