I’ve been following Screenbound for a while now, and it really stands out – it’s an indie game with a truly unique approach I haven’t encountered before.
The game features a “Q Boy” device that creates a 3D world based on the 2D game visuals you see on screen. This lets you play through levels in both 2D and 3D simultaneously.
Just shown off at Day of the Devs, here’s the most recent trailer:
This looks really interesting! I’m not sure how easy it will be to pick up and play, but it seems well-made, and the core concept has a lot of promise.
Screenbound lets you play different games by inserting cartridges into its Q Boy console. The first game is designed like classic side-scrolling platformers, and the second is an action adventure played from a top-down perspective.
Understanding both 3D and 2D environments at the same time might sound complicated, but it could feel natural while you’re actually playing.
Great news! Screenbound will be available on PlayStation 5 on September 10th, 2026, meaning we won’t have to wait much longer to experience it ourselves.
I’m so intrigued by this one, but what about you? Tell us in the comments section below.
