Siobhán McSweeney details what separates The Traitors Ireland from other international formats

After a long wait, The Traitors Ireland is coming to BBC One, and viewers who enjoy the show’s twists and betrayals are in for something special.

Comedy star Siobhán McSweeney hosts this exciting new show where a group of strangers try to solve a murder mystery at the beautiful Slane Castle in Ireland.

The new series starts at 12:10am on Saturday, January 24th, and promises drama right away. Viewers can expect the players to make a crucial decision that will determine who the Traitors are and kickstart a web of deceit. But will this season really be as ruthless as people are saying?

She described one of the show’s international setup team as a kind man who traveled the world getting everything ready. He was helping them with their first season, and everyone kept asking him if their country’s version of the show was unique. It’s natural for each country to want to feel special.

What makes these people stand out is their unique qualities. However, he pointed out something interesting – that everyone is fundamentally the same, like we all live in one big global community, and people everywhere tend to act in similar ways, whether they’re loyal or disloyal.

McSweeney observed something interesting: the cast members immediately started chatting and bonding, even before they’d had much time to get to know each other. This led to some unexpected and surprisingly early moments that the producers likely hadn’t planned for until later in the show.

She added: “Before people even had their first cup of tea, they were chatting away.

It typically takes contestants some time to relax and start getting to know each other, exchanging polite greetings. However, this time, people were already chatting and comfortable as they walked towards the castle’s front door.

She said it was amazing, then playfully hinted that they were very assertive and weren’t shy about pursuing what they wanted.

The Traitors Ireland begins on Saturday 24th January at 12:10am on BBC One and iPlayer.
