Kody Brown raised a bit of a stink on the latest episode of Sister Wives.
While packing up the five-bedroom house in Flagstaff, Arizona, that he previously shared with Robyn Brown and their children – Dayton, Aurora, Breanna, Solomon, and Ariella – the family patriarch made a candid remark on the TLC show, admitting, “I can smell my own armpits, and it’s gross.”
Despite everything, he still tried to flirt with Robyn, his last wife, and playfully asked her to come closer and smell his scent.
The man with eighteen children wasn’t oblivious to the difficulties, but he viewed them as a chance to find love.
Kody admitted to showing off for her – something he’d never do with anyone else, he told his younger brother, Michael Brown.
He just figured their romance could pass the smell test.
Kody explained that after months of moving to their new $2.1 million home, he and his wife haven’t had any time for romance. He feels they’ve become more like teammates coping with a challenge than a loving couple.
So the 56-year-old wasn’t about to turn his nose up at a potential opportunity for romance.
Let me tell you, some people really lean into unconventional attraction! I was recently hearing someone describe how they playfully use natural body odor – yes, you heard that right – as a way to create a romantic connection. They described it as almost ‘flirting’ with their natural scent, suggesting it’s a signal of attraction. They even joked about someone noticing and thinking, ‘Oh, that handsome man!’ – it’s a bold approach, but it’s fascinating how we perceive and react to those primal cues.
But for Robyn, who wed Kody in 2010, the move was a bit of a whiff.
She admitted she wasn’t bothered by his flirting, but she wouldn’t reward it with her attention. She’d happily give him attention when he stopped trying to flirt.
Because, admittedly, any sort of PDA has taken some getting used to.
Robyn explained that when Kody was married to Meri, Janelle, and Christine, there wasn’t much public display of affection between him and his wives. Because of this, she used to avoid flirting with him in public, but now she’s learning to feel more comfortable with it.
Kody admitted that because his wives have separated from their ex-husbands, it will likely take Robyn some time to adjust to him having only one wife.
Eventually he hopes that she’ll find ways to get cheeky with him.
Kody expressed a desire for a moment of comfortable intimacy with his partner, describing a scenario where she playfully slaps his rear while they’re out in public, like at a mall. He feels this would signify a deep level of comfort and connection between them.
Honestly, it’s still a big adjustment! As the founder of My Sisterwife’s Closet, I’m used to a lot going on, a big family always around. Now, it’s just me and him, and I’m still getting used to the simplicity – and the quiet! It’s a totally different dynamic, and I’m learning to navigate it.
Honestly, watching the show, it really struck me how Kody admitted Robyn married him knowing he already *was* in a plural marriage. He said when Christine and the others left, he started to question what he even meant to her anymore – if she still saw him as valuable. And it sounds like he’s *still* grappling with that insecurity, which is just… heartbreaking to watch.
Robyn’s not fully certain herself.
She acknowledged that while having Kody as her only husband had some benefits, it wasn’t ideal. She hadn’t envisioned this life for herself and had always hoped to practice plural marriage, staying true to her beliefs. She loved Kody, but never wanted an exclusive relationship with him; she desired a life lived within the principles of her faith.
This is only one of several personal revelations shared by her and her family this season. Because these honest stories are meant to be spread and discussed, keep reading to find out everything they’ve revealed.
Now that her divorce from Kody Brown is final, Janelle Brown shared on the season 20 premiere of *Sister Wives* that she’s taking a similar approach to Meri Brown.
Though they were married for 29 years, Christine was never legally married to Kody. She explained on the show’s premiere that she’d considered a ‘spiritual divorce’ a long time ago but didn’t know it was possible. When Meri pursued one, Christine asked her who she needed to contact to do the same.
Janelle’s former sister wife—who had previously been released from their church due to feeling abandoned—was happy to provide some missing information. Janelle explained, “She’s been helping me reconnect with everyone.”
Madison Brush is still dealing with the fallout from her father’s actions and their strained relationship. In the September 28th episode of the show, she shared that she continues to struggle with being estranged from her dad, Kody, and the impact it’s had on her, as she is one of his six children with Janelle.
The mother of four admitted she hopes her husband’s father will be present, and that she desires a resolution to their issues. She acknowledged her own role in the situation, but expressed frustration as she continues to work on managing her expectations and avoiding disappointment.
She’s finding it difficult to accept him as he is. She explained that she’s working on understanding he may not have known how to be there for her, and that he could be going through his own pain.
He also might not be willing to cede too much ground.
Kody expressed wanting to repair his relationships with Meri, Janelle, Christine Brown, and their kids, but feels it can only happen if they decide to make it happen. He believes they’ve reached a standstill where healing is dependent on their willingness to try.
Robyn Brown, Kody’s last remaining wife, says she always desired a family, not just a relationship with Kody himself. On the September 28th episode of the show, she shared that she’d received marriage proposals before, though not always traditional ones. She explained that several men had told her they would marry her quickly if she’d have them.
She consistently stated her position: “I simply told him I was open to the idea of a plural marriage.” She also added that if Kody hadn’t already been married with three wives, she would have given him the same answer.
Okay, so Kody *said* this, and honestly, it just about melted me! After everything, all the… complexities, he actually said, “It’s you and me, baby!” Like, finally! It’s so sweet that, even though it wasn’t planned, he’s acting like it’s just him and whoever he’s with right now. I’m seriously swooning! It feels so… intimate, you know? Like a real, honest connection. I can’t even deal!
Though he admittedly had one concern.
Kody hinted to Robyn that he desired a more fulfilling intimate life. In a private interview, he explained his perspective: he believed polygamy offered abundance, while monogamy often left people wanting more.
Meri is actively dating and has a clear idea of what she wants in a partner. She’s looking for a tall man who loves to travel and, importantly, prefers dogs over cats, as she shared on the October 5th episode.
And she definitely needs someone who won’t scare easily.
She described a difficult dating experience where a man ended their conversation as soon as he learned she practiced polygamy. He told her he wasn’t interested in continuing the conversation, and she found that very hurtful. She felt rejected simply because of her relationship style.
Meri explained that it was the first time she truly understood that some people would be unwilling to even begin a conversation with her because of who she was.
Janelle believes she was the only one in her large family who really wanted to settle on Coyote Pass.
On the October 3rd episode of the show, Janelle revealed she never really envisioned the entire family living on the 14-acre Coyote Pass property they bought before moving to Flagstaff, Arizona in 2018. She admitted she wasn’t sure it was ever truly her dream.
Although Kody’s second wife thought living there could work—she said it was a nice property and worth considering—she believed his interest in the location was temporary and that he and his other wives would soon lose interest.
She explained that no one was eager to live in that location, especially not Christine. Meri would have agreed to move if others had as well.
Janelle explained that Kody and Robyn’s former property, a five-bedroom house on two acres that they recently sold for $1.7 million, felt unfinished despite being mostly built.
You know, when my family first moved to Flagstaff, we inherited a piece of land that was originally divided into four sections. Honestly, it quickly became clear to me that trying to maintain those separate parcels just wasn’t going to work. I could see right away it wasn’t practical, and we needed a different approach.
Kody believes he knows why his relationships with most of his adult children – excluding Robyn’s oldest, Dayton, and daughters Aurora and Breanna – aren’t very good.
He admitted on October 5th that he has difficult relationships with his adult children. He explained that constant teasing and subtle jabs have created problems with trust and loyalty within the family.
And these days, not many of his grown kids are on Team Kody.
Even though Mykelti Padron, one of Christine’s six children, had seemed the most publicly supportive of her father, she shared her thoughts on the family split several months after she, her husband Tony Padron, and their three children moved to North Carolina.
As a long-time observer, it really breaks my heart. I honestly believe if he’d just take responsibility for his actions, even just with a few of his children, they might be willing to reconnect. It’s not about who’s to blame – the kids, his other wife, anyone else! If he could simply say, ‘I messed up, I’m sorry, let’s talk,’ I think it would make a huge difference. It’s that simple, and it would open so many doors, I really believe that.
When Coyote Pass was sold in April 2025, Janelle and Meri finalized their separation from Kody, each receiving money from the sale. Christine had previously given up her share of the land in exchange for keeping the profits from selling her house in Arizona.
On the October 5th episode, Janelle playfully told Meri it felt like saying, “Goodbye, and I don’t expect to see you again.”
But she certainly wouldn’t have waved off an even nicer present.
If she had been legally married to Kody, she said she would have rightfully claimed half of his possessions, as they would have been considered jointly owned.
Kody and Robyn had to review the contract for their new $2.1 million home before they could give up on their plans for Coyote Pass. Kody explained on the October 12th episode that selling Coyote Pass only became possible when they found a different house they really wanted. After months of discussions with his former wives about selling the large property, they were finally able to move forward.
The father of 18 children is also looking forward to leaving behind the painful memories associated with their old house. He explained, “We’ve gone through a lot of difficult times here, and we’re hoping for a fresh start – a completely new chapter in our lives.”
