During a presentation at the Future Games Showcase, Full Circle discussed updates and modifications to the upcoming game Skate, the latest title in the skateboarding series that hasn’t seen much action for some time. They highlighted enhancements made through playtesting, as well as demonstrated pre-pre-alpha gameplay featuring numerous tricks and engaging interactions set within various environments.
What’s particularly noteworthy is a substantial change arriving in a week, which the development team hints has been eagerly anticipated by fans. We’ll find out if it’s the release date for early access, as previously scheduled for Summer 2025, or perhaps an open beta test. Let’s wait and see, so keep your eyes on this space.
Skate is currently being developed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. Unlike earlier installments, this version will offer a free-to-play experience with microtransactions, enabling numerous skaters to navigate its expansive locales on their skateboards. This game supports cross-platform multiplayer and cross-progression, ensuring seamless interaction between players on different systems. However, rest assured that the microtransactions are purely cosmetic in nature, not affecting gameplay mechanics.
Sadly, there’s no offline mode as the experience is designed from the ground up for online play.
