Just a month after the release of the free-to-play skateboarding game Skate, EA and Full Circle have announced a new collection of in-game cosmetic items available in the store. A video showcasing these items has been shared on X (formerly Twitter), which you can view below. Notably, this collection includes not only new clothing and skateboard designs, but also items inspired by another EA game, Dead Space.
Players of the game *Skate* can purchase a cosmetic set themed around Isaac Clarke from *Dead Space* for 3,350 San Van Bucks – which costs a little over $40. This set lets players dress their character in an outfit resembling Isaac Clarke’s iconic armor. However, many players feel the quality isn’t great, and it looks more like a cheap, store-bought Halloween costume.
The Isaac Clarke bundle doesn’t just include the armor – it also lets you customize your skateboard with a spooky, Dead Space-inspired look. You’ll get a deck decorated with Necromorphs, wheels featuring symbols from the Marker, and stickers referencing iconic moments from the games. Plus, you can perform a special stomp emote that mimics Isaac Clarke’s finishing move against enemies.
The in-game store for *Skate* has been updated to kick off the game’s first season. As announced earlier this month, the update includes lots of new content, like 40 new challenges and over 200 new items players can unlock to customize their experience. Players can also explore a brand new area within the game. This season also introduces the first two seasonal events – Skate-o-Ween and 7-Ply Maple Harvest – along with the Skate Pass.
EA and Full Circle have revealed plans for future updates to *Skate*, covering the next two seasons. Season 2, launching in December, will introduce a new co-op mode, two seasonal events, fresh skateboarding tricks, and enhancements to the replay editor and voice chat. Season 3, expected in February, will allow players to create and share their own skate parks, add new game modes, expand the collectibles available in the game world, and introduce even more tricks.
So, Skate finally dropped in Early Access last September on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, after a lot of testing. Honestly, the PC version on Steam had a pretty shaky start. Even though over 81,000 of us were playing on day one, the reviews were mixed – only about 47% of players gave it a positive rating. It was a bit disappointing to see, considering how much anticipation there was!
As a long-time fan, I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about the new *Skate* game, and honestly, I get them. People are bummed that some of the classic stuff we loved – like death races – didn’t make the cut. Plus, it seems like the communication options aren’t great, and a lot of players are saying the missions feel really repetitive. It’s a bit disappointing, to be honest.
