After a long wait since it was first revealed, Skate Story, the unique skateboarding game by Sam Eng, is launching in December. It will be available on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and PlayStation Plus members can play it on day one.
The PlayStation Blog recently revealed more about the game’s controls. You can power slide by holding the Square button, and perform an Ollie by holding Circle – both are easy to learn! But experimenting with the L1 and L2 buttons unlocks even more tricks, like Front Pops, Heelflips, and Pop Shuvits.
The game features over 70 unlockable moves, and you’ll need to master a diverse range of them to beat the challenging bosses. Success depends on building up your combo meter and pressing the Square button at just the right time. Performing well-timed jumps earns extra points, which translate into more damage, but be careful – a single mistake will reset your progress.
In addition to fighting challenging bosses, you’ll complete quests and help quirky characters from the underworld – you might even be asked to destroy a stinky stone pillar for a talking garbage bag! A ghost rabbit named Rabbie will guide you, and you can use the souls you earn to customize your card deck in a central hub.
Skate Story launches on December 8th. Check out some gameplay of a battle against the Moon here.
