A new Scream movie is on the way, and fans are especially excited about the possibility of seeing familiar faces return. The original Scream, directed by Wes Craven and released in 1996, launched a trend of self-aware horror films. It starred Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, a woman who must fight for her life against a masked killer.
The original Scream revealed Ghostface was actually two killers, including Sidney’s boyfriend, Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich). With Scream 7 scheduled for 2026, both Sidney and Billy’s accomplice, Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), are set to return – despite Stu’s death in the first movie. But the most exciting Scream reunion isn’t happening in the next film; it’s coming this December.
Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Offers Big Scream Reunion
The actors who played the killers in the original Scream, Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, are reuniting for a new horror thriller set to release in December 2025. Matthew Lillard, who played the killer in the first Scream, is also returning to the horror genre in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
William Afton was the villain responsible for possessing the animatronics – he’d murdered the children who now haunted them. Though it seemed he died in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, the story focuses on ghosts and spirits, meaning death isn’t permanent in this series.
The movie Black Phone 2 proved that villains can always resurface, and that seems to be happening with Ethan Hawke’s character, William Afton. Excitingly, Ethan Hawke is teaming up again with Skeet Ulrich for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, and their characters share a significant history within the story.
For a while, the identity of the actor playing Henry Emily was a secret, but now it’s known that it’s Ulrich. Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game series will recognize the name, and his relationship to the character William Afton is a major point of interest.
How Is Skeet Ulrich’s Henry Connected to Matthew Lillard’s William Afton?
The backstory of Five Nights at Freddy’s suggests exciting things for the upcoming reunion of Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard, who both starred in Scream. In the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, Lillard’s role was a surprise, revealed later in the film as William Afton – a founder of Freddy Fazbear’s and a notorious child killer.
Skeet Ulrich portrays Henry Emily, who co-founded Freddy Fazbear’s with William Afton. He’s also the father of Charlotte Emily, the spirit inhabiting The Puppet. Charlotte was William Afton’s first victim, and this tragedy drives Henry to become the central character in the book series.
Before details about his character were revealed, Ulrich Neuman didn’t want to give anything away, explaining that he plays a character with a complex history and strong personal connection to the story. While this description fits Henry, similar to William, his character might be using a different name in the film.
I’ve noticed a big difference between how Scream and Five Nights at Freddy’s handle their villains. In Scream, Billy and Stu were a team, working together. But in the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, Henry was clearly the good guy, and William was the one causing all the trouble. I don’t think the new movies will be quite so black and white, though. From what I understand, Josh Hutcherson’s character, Mike Schmidt, is meant to be the hero of these films.
The first movie introduced some differences from the game; for example, William now has a daughter, police officer Vanessa Shelly. Although Vanessa appears in the game as well, she isn’t William’s daughter there. This suggests that the upcoming film, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, might have even more changes, potentially involving a character like Henry.
Fans are eager to find out if William and Henry will appear together on screen. In Five Nights at Freddy’s, William made sure he’d be trapped inside the animatronic after the spring traps went off. But there’s still a chance we’ll see a scene where the mask comes off, giving actors Matthew Lillard and Ulrich a chance to share a reunion that fans of Scream have been hoping for.
This Is Only The First Of The Upcoming Scream Reunions
The next Scream movie will bring back two actors from the very first film. Neve Campbell is returning as Sidney Prescott, having missed the previous installment. But the biggest surprise is Matthew Lillard reprising his role as Stu Macher, even though his character died in the original movie.
It might be unexpected, but Skeet Ulrich reprised his role in the fifth Scream film, revealing that Samantha (Melissa Barrera) is Billy Loomis’s daughter. Billy appeared to Sam in visions, attempting to manipulate her into becoming a killer like him. It’s currently unknown if Patrick Dempsey’s character, Stu, will also appear in visions or if the filmmakers have other plans for him.
While there are possibilities for Stu Macher to reappear in Scream 7, perhaps through a supernatural plot, that would likely disappoint fans. The series’ success has always been rooted in realism, so a supernatural return is unlikely. This means fans shouldn’t anticipate seeing Matthew Lillard and Neve Campbell share screen time, diminishing the impact of their reunion.
Okay, so I was a little worried about the new Scream movie, but it turns out Neve Campbell has only missed one film, which is good news! And while Stu might show up, it’s probably just in flashbacks or as a vision. Honestly, what I’m really excited about is seeing Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard back together! They’re the original killers, and they’re reuniting in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 this December – I can’t wait!
