As things fall apart, we learn about Kong’s difficult past through memories: his fights, the losses he suffered, and the raw instincts that made him king of the island. Now, with a massive wave of dangerous creatures surrounding the stranded humans, Kong’s greatest rival is growing stronger and ready to fight for the throne again.
Earlier this year, Legendary Pictures released a second series set in the MonsterVerse called Escape from Skull Island. While Return to Skull Island delivered a thrilling, fast-paced adventure, Escape from Skull Island appears to be a grittier, more frightening story in the classic pulp tradition.
I really enjoyed the Skull Island comics from Titan! They’re basically continuations of that awesome animated series that was on Netflix last year. It all takes place in the ’90s and follows this team of explorers who try to save someone lost at sea. Of course, things go wrong, and they end up shipwrecked on Skull Island! The whole story is about how they work together to survive the dangerous island and all the giant monsters that live there.
The show received positive reviews, with an 82% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 75% audience score based on over 100 user reviews. Despite this success, it wasn’t renewed for another season, which makes the Skull Island comics from Titan Comics even more appealing to fans of the MonsterVerse.
