The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim remains a hugely popular and critically acclaimed open-world RPG, and dedicated fans are constantly improving its appearance with modifications. While it’s not the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls 6, this is essentially a stunning visual overhaul for Skyrim.
According to Digital Dreams on YouTube, a hub for visual enhancements and mod showcases, Skyrim now boasts an impressive 3,561 mods. While fans are still waiting for news on The Elder Scrolls 6, the continued popularity and dedication to Skyrim demonstrate that the fifth main installment in the Elder Scrolls series continues to satisfy players.
Skyrim Shouldn’t Look This Good In 2026
The YouTube video is incredibly high quality, running at up to 8K resolution with a smooth 60 frames per second. Achieving this level of detail – 4320p60 8K Ultra HD – required a lot of processing power and the use of thousands of modifications to maximize the resolution.
This video demonstrates what’s being called “Skyrim Next Gen Modded graphics,” and it lives up to the name. Each new generation of gaming consoles aims for better graphics and performance, but these mods take Skyrim to a level that even a PlayStation 6 or the next Xbox probably couldn’t reach.
With the incredibly high cost of graphics cards like the RTX 5090, mods are probably the only way most players will experience Skyrim – or future games like The Elder Scrolls 6 – with truly stunning graphics anytime soon. While Bethesda games are generally beautiful and immersive, their visual quality hasn’t been groundbreaking in recent years, although Starfield does represent a noticeable improvement in that area.
It Basically Looks Like The Elder Scrolls 6
Given how far off the release of The Elder Scrolls 6 likely is, it’s understandable fans are hoping for impressive graphics – perhaps even matching the quality shown in this video. While 8K resolution would be amazing, mods will probably be just as important to the game’s long-term success as they were for Skyrim, and that’s really exciting.
I’m already hyped to see what crazy mods people come up with for The Elder Scrolls 6 when it finally drops. It’s kinda wild to think that even now, 8K videos of Skyrim – a game that’s almost 15 years old – will probably start to look a little old hat. Right now, getting Skyrim to look absolutely amazing takes a lot of work, but it’s totally worth it. Check out Digital Dreams’ latest showcase – the results are stunning! They really show how much potential the game still has.
