Just last week, Mega Crit Games released Slay the Spire 2 in early access, and it’s already incredibly popular. It broke records on Steam, becoming the most played rogue-lite game ever at its peak, and has already sold three million copies.
Demi, the community manager, announced that the game has reached one million downloads! Players have also completed over 25 million runs, and that number is likely even higher – Mega Crit only started tracking runs shortly after the game launched. It’s clear that fans are really enjoying the game and can’t stop playing.
So, what’s coming up for Slay the Spire 2? While the game is only in early access, there aren’t any firm plans or a schedule for major updates yet. The developers are currently focused on improvements like making multiplayer better, adding Steam Workshop compatibility, creating a friend-based leaderboard, redesigning the badge/scoring system, and releasing balance updates – plus a lot more!
We don’t have a firm date for the public release yet, but you can test out new features and changes on the Steam beta branch. We plan to update the beta version frequently, so it’s a great way to see what’s coming soon.
Currently, Slay the Spire 2 is only available on PC through Steam Early Access. The developers might release versions for consoles after the early access period, but it’s likely to be a significant wait – potentially a year or two – as they’ve stated they’ll release it when the game is fully polished and ready.
