EYES OUT, the developer, and publisher Blumhouse Games have revealed that their psychological horror game, Sleep Awake, will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on December 2nd. A new trailer accompanied the release date announcement (see it below!). The game was created by a team led by Cory Davis, known for his work on Spec Ops: The Line, and Robin Finck, who has collaborated with the band Nine Inch Nails.
In the psychological horror game Sleep Awake, players experience a story from a first-person viewpoint, set on a desolate Earth where a mysterious insomnia plagues the last remnants of humanity. The game takes place in the final city, where people who fall asleep vanish in an event called the HUSH. As Katja, players navigate this dangerous world while humanity desperately tries to combat the HUSH through increasingly risky methods.
In this game, you play as Katja, struggling to survive against dangerous cults and a mysterious condition called the HUSH, which keeps you from sleeping. You’ll need to avoid the cult’s followers while solving puzzles to uncover the secrets of the world, the HUSH itself, and why everyone is losing sleep. The game uses live-action video and striking visuals to create a disorienting experience, blending what’s real and what’s not.
The trailer for Sleep Awake effectively blends gameplay footage with live-action video, creating a truly terrifying and unsettling atmosphere. The game, as shown in the trailer, will feature disturbing imagery stemming from dangerous experiments people have conducted in their desperate attempts to avoid sleep.
The trailer also highlights the atmospheric and industrial soundtrack of Sleep Awake, composed by Robin Finck. His work clearly draws inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, particularly towards the end of the trailer, where powerful drumming and sounds of heavy machinery create the intense horror the game, EYES OUT, aims to deliver.
The developer has also revealed the PC hardware requirements for Sleep Awake. To run the game, you’ll need at least an AMD Zen 2 or Intel i7 from the 4th generation, 16 GB of RAM, and a graphics card with 6 GB of dedicated video memory. For better graphics and smoother performance, they recommend an AMD Zen 3 or Intel 12th generation processor, 32 GB of RAM, and a graphics card with 8 GB of dedicated video memory.
To run the game, you’ll need a system that can handle 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second with the graphics settings turned to Low. For a better experience, we recommend a system capable of 1440p at 60 FPS, or 4K resolution at 30 FPS with High quality graphics.
