As a gamer with a deep affection for sci-fi and a soft spot for intriguing narratives, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of “Slingshot.” The mystery that unfolds in this movie, as hinted by Laurence Fishburne himself, sounds absolutely captivating. Plus, who doesn’t love a good ensemble cast, especially with Casey Affleck on board?
Actor Lawrence Fishburne, famously known as Slingshot star, discussed what initially attracted him to this film in an interview with ComicBook. He revealed that the intriguing ending and the captivating mystery aspect were the key factors that ultimately convinced him to join the project. Chris Killian then inquired if Captain Franks was modeled after Fishburne’s character from Event Horizon, but the actor seemed surprised by the connection. Fishburne clarified, “Not really, as it has been quite some time since I played that role.” Following a chuckle about the lapse of time, they delved into the distinctive concept behind Slingshot and Casey Affleck’s character adding an enjoyable dynamic to the cast.
Fishburne went on to say, “What drew me in was the enigma of it all – the uncertain aspect of their mission. They were circling a planet to gather extra gravitational force for traveling deeper into space. The question was if this method would actually be successful.”
In the story, Casey Affleck’s character is one of several competing for a spot on the ship. The narrative alternates between the selection process for the mission and, ultimately, the shocking revelation at the end. This unexpected twist left me utterly amazed. I was incredibly pleased with how the final outcome was executed.
What Else Has Fisburne Been Up To?
Previously, he reappeared in the MCU through “What If…?” last year. In a Season 2 episode, Bill Foster stepped into the role of Giant Man. Many fans had been anticipating this transformation in real life when his character was first presented in “Ant-Man & The Wasp”. Although we’re yet to witness it on screen, it was exciting to see Fishburne rejoin other MCU heroes for an entertaining Multiverse escapade. Interestingly, ComicBook got a sneak peek into Fishburne’s participation in the franchise and shared some insights ahead of time.
“Indeed, you’re aware that Bill Foster appears in ‘What If…?’ That’s right, Terrence Cahill confirmed it. In fact, he plays Giant-Man there. It’s quite intriguing, isn’t it? Maybe one day we’ll get to see him do his thing on the big screen as well.”
