One of Amazon Prime Video’s initial original productions, the crime thriller Sneaky Pete starring Giovanni Ribisi (from Avatar) and Margo Martindale (known for The Watcher), is experiencing a revival on competing platform Netflix, with these talented actors spearheading the cast.
As a devoted film enthusiast, I’d put it this way: In the heart of the story, I find myself as a trapped trickster, Marius (portrayed by Ribisi), who uncovers a chilling secret. It turns out that my younger sibling and I owe a perilous gambling kingpin named Vince (superbly played by Bryan Cranston) some hefty sums.
To escape trouble and collect the money needed to pay off his debts, Marius assumes the persona of his former jail cell companion, Peter Murphy (Ethan Embry), once released. He then infiltrates his distant relatives’ business under this new identity, aiming to exploit their operations for personal gain.
Besides playing a secondary character, Cranston not only co-created but also served as an executive producer for the series “Sneaky Pete,” which first appeared on Amazon Prime Video in 2017 following the popularity of his work in “Breaking Bad.
If you didn’t catch Sneaky Pete when it first aired, now’s your chance! Catch it now on Netflix as it becomes available. Here’s an intro to the show’s captivating cast without any spoilers.

Giovanni Ribisi plays Marius Josipović / Pete Murphy

In the beginning of this series, we encounter Marius, who is currently serving time in jail for being a swindler. When he learns that he owes an exorbitant amount of money to a ruthless criminal, he decides to impersonate his cellmate named Pete. Since they share a slight physical resemblance and Pete’s grandparents haven’t seen him in quite some time, Marius manages to gain access to their household, initially raising some suspicions among the more curious members of the family.
As a seasoned movie critic, I can’t help but marvel at Giovanni Ribisi’s diverse acting career. Beyond his iconic portrayal of Frank Buffay on Friends, this versatile actor has graced our screens in a plethora of roles. He’s fought for freedom in Saving Private Ryan, navigated the treacherous streets in Gone in 60 Seconds, and stood shoulder to shoulder with public enemies in Public Enemies.
His comedic prowess is evident in collaborations with Seth Macfarlane, including Ted, its sequel, and A Million Ways to Die in the West. Moreover, he’s a regular antagonist as Parker Selfridge in James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, proving that his talent knows no bounds.
Margo Martindale plays Audrey Bernhardt

Who do we refer to as Audrey? That’s the grandmother of the genuine Pete Murphy. At first, he mistakenly believes Marius to be his grandchild. She manages a bail bond agency, but encounters difficulties in maintaining its operation.
What other shows or movies has Margo Martindale appeared in aside from Bojack Horseman? She is well-known for her roles in numerous productions such as Million Dollar Baby, Justified, The Americans, The Good Wife, Mrs America, The Watcher on Netflix, Prime Video’s The Sticky, and the action film Cocaine Bear.
Bryan Cranston plays Vince Lonigan

Who is Vince? Vince is a dangerous gangster who Marius and his brother Eddie are indebted to.
I’ve been recognized for my role as Walter White, the unconventional drug kingpin, in the AMC series Breaking Bad. Before that, I was known for playing a comical father in the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. Lately, you might have caught me in Your Honor on Paramount Plus, The Studio on Apple TV+, or as a character in Wes Anderson’s film The Phoenician Scheme.
Marin Ireland plays Julia Bowman

Who is Julia? She is the blood relative (cousin) of Pete Murphy in real life. After navigating some turbulent youthful phases, she’s making an effort to organize her life and dedicate herself to the family business. However, Grandmother Audrey isn’t so sure if Julia has the necessary skills to excel in their line of work.
Has Marin Ireland appeared in anything else recently? Well, she’s been spotted in the Apple TV+ thriller Dope Thief, the FX revival Justified: City Primeval, and Netflix’s comic book adaptation The Umbrella Academy. Her film credits also include Materialists, Eileen, The Irishman, and Hell or High Water. Additionally, Ireland has made a name for herself with her impressive theater work as well.
Libe Barer plays Carly Bowman

Who is Carly? She is one of Pete’s younger relatives, attending high school at the time the story starts. Despite her youth, she should not be underestimated as she is the one who raises eyebrows and closely examines Marius when he unexpectedly shows up.
Has Libe Barer been involved in anything else since the end of Sneaky Pete? Well, she’s also starred in the TruTV sitcom Those Who Can’t and lent her voice to both Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur and Disney’s DuckTales.
Michael Drayer plays Eddie Josipović

Who is Eddie? Eddie is Marius’s younger brother, who got them both in hot water with Vince.
Has Michael Drayer acted in any other productions besides Mr. Robot? Yes, he has also been seen in the cyber thriller starring Rami Malek, as well as in more recent American series such as A Million Little Things and Law & Order: Organized Crime.
Peter Gerety plays Otto Bernhardt

Who is Otto? Otto is the real Pete’s grandfather, who helps run the family business with Audrey.
Has Peter Gerety appeared in any other notable productions aside from Homicide: Life on the Street, The Wire, and Boston Strangler?
Karolina Wydra plays Karolina

Karolina is an old acquaintance of Marius prior to his imprisonment, and she shares a romantic history with Vince.
Apart from these roles, could there be any other television shows or films where Karolina Wydra has appeared?
Ethan Embry plays Pete Murphy

Pete Murphy is the man whom Marius takes on as an alias when he’s released from prison. He’s quite talkative and Marius uses what Pete shared during their casual chats as a basis for his disguise.
Has Ethan Embry appeared in anything else aside from Grace and Frankie on Netflix for seven years? Yes, he has also been seen in Gotham Knights and Brotherhood, sharing the screen with notable actors like Jason Isaacs and Jason Clarke.
Shane McRae plays Taylor Bowman

Who is Taylor? He is one of Pete’s cousins who was particularly close with him as children, but they haven’t been in touch for many years. As Marius works diligently towards becoming a detective, he needs to be mindful not to challenge Taylor’s memories due to their long separation. Given that he is also a police officer, this task becomes even more challenging.
Has Shane McRae appeared in anything else since leaving Sneaky Pete? Yes, he’s also featured in the critically-acclaimed Apple TV+ sci-fi series Silo, portraying the character Knox.
