Cam Bolton is recovering from a harrowing accident.
Just before the 2026 Winter Olympics, an Australian snowboarder had to pull out of the men’s snowboard cross competition on February 12th due to an injury, the Australian Olympic Team announced on social media.
Snowboarder Bolton fell while training in Milan on February 9th, according to several news reports. He initially appeared to be fine, but woke up the next day with a painful neck and went to see a doctor. The 35-year-old last competed in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
I was so worried to hear about Bolton! Apparently, scans showed he actually fractured two bones. They had to airlift him off the mountain by helicopter and take him to a hospital in Milan for more care. Thankfully, Alisa Camplin-Warner, our Chef de Mission, has let us know he’s doing well and recovering, which is such a relief!
Cam wanted to reassure his teammates that he was okay and receiving good care, explained Camplin-Warner. He’s aware of how much support we’re providing and communication has been excellent. She added that she’s proud of the level of care being given.
Oh my gosh, it’s just awful! Everyone’s talking about Bolton, but I remembered Lindsey Vonn! She totally crashed during the downhill final on February 8th, and it sounded so bad. She later said she actually fractured her tibia – not just a simple break, but a really complicated one with lots of fragments! She needs several surgeries to even begin to fix it, and honestly, it just breaks my heart. She’s such an inspiration, and I’m sending all my good vibes her way for a full recovery!
In a February 9th Instagram post, the 41-year-old explained that she crashed because her positioning was off by just five inches, causing her arm to get caught on the gate and twist her. She emphasized that the crash wasn’t related to any previous injuries or her ACL.

Despite a recent crash, Lindsey Vonn says she doesn’t regret coming out of retirement to ski again, even though she initially stopped in 2019 because of ongoing knee problems.
She described being at the starting line yesterday as an unforgettable experience. Just having the opportunity to compete for the win felt like a success, even before the race began. She also acknowledged the inherent risks of racing, emphasizing that it’s always been a dangerous sport.
