Solange’s son Daniel “Julez” Smith Jr. is shining a light on the tough part of fame.

You know, I get asked a lot about what’s tough about life in the spotlight, and honestly, it’s not the pressure or the schedule. It’s the misunderstandings. People often form opinions without really knowing the full story, and that’s the most challenging part, really.

Julez, Solange’s son with her ex-husband Daniel Smith, also mentioned that people often assume he is gay.

He explained that the first time he saw himself in the media was when he was in seventh grade. His mom had posted a picture of him dressed as LL Cool J – he was wearing a red jumpsuit and was thirteen years old. He remembered having a girlfriend at the time, and she showed him the picture at school.

Julez explained that he was called gay as a thirteen-year-old by adults, simply because they told him he was good-looking and considered him a ‘pretty boy’.

Julez is used to people jumping to conclusions about his personal life, but he consistently focuses on sharing positivity through his work.

Indeed the model previously shared the legacy he wants to leave behind.

He shared in a June 2025 interview with Pause that his biggest hope is to inspire others to start modeling. He wants young men to feel empowered to pursue the profession, proving they can achieve the same level of success as established figures in the industry and make their own mark.

He explained that he wants to inspire others and be remembered for his achievements. Ultimately, he wants to leave a positive legacy for future generations and make his family proud.

Julez recently impressed at Paris Fashion Week’s Blue Marble presentation, and his grandmother, Tina Knowles, was understandably beaming with pride as he walked the runway.

I was recently looking back at some behind-the-scenes footage from the show, and I remembered a sweet moment. I was there at the Blue Marble show, and I was so excited to watch this really handsome model walk the runway!

Julez, thankful for her grandmother’s help, expressed her gratitude to everyone by saying, “Thank you all for being here and for all your support. I love you all.”

“I love you, too,” Tina replied, noting, “Go have fun.”
