Solo Leveling Creator Shares Promising Update on a Sequel

Even before the anime premiered in 2024, *Solo Leveling* was incredibly popular worldwide as a web novel and comic, gaining billions of views and becoming a major cultural trend. It was therefore expected that the anime would be a huge success, and it didn’t disappoint. The first two seasons, released in 2024 and 2025, broke records on Crunchyroll and greatly increased the series’ popularity. This year, the first season won big at the Crunchyroll Awards, thanks to fan votes. The second season only covered the story up to the Jeju Island Arc, and the third season promises even more action and excitement.

Despite the popularity of the show, A-1 Pictures hasn’t announced a third season of *Solo Leveling* yet, even though Season 2 finished months ago. While a Season 3 is likely, fans may have to wait a while. After the first story ended, another author, Daul, created *Solo Leveling: Ragnarok*, which also became a manhwa. Many consider this to be a continuation of the original story, but the original author, Chugong, has denied that it is a sequel.

Solo Leveling Creator Doesn’t Accept Ragnarok As a Sequel

Chugong, the author of the series, recently discussed the ending and the possibility of a continuation in *Ragnarok* with LitRes, Russia’s biggest digital book and audiobook platform. A popular fan account on X, @SoloLevelingGuy, shared an English translation of the interview, revealing that Chugong was directly asked about continuing the story in *Ragnarok*.

Chugong explained that *Ragnarok* was created as a treat for fans. He wanted to see how another writer would approach the world of *Solo Leveling*. While it takes place in the same universe as *Solo Leveling*, it doesn’t follow the main storyline directly. Instead, he described it as exploring an alternate possibility, much like the different universes you see in Marvel stories.

The author has hinted at potentially writing a sequel, saying, “Of course, I’m also considering it.” A continuation of the story, *Ragnarok*, follows the son of the main character, Suho, who rediscovers his powers and must protect the world from powerful cosmic threats. Although this continuation felt like an official sequel, it wasn’t actually written by the original author. While the author, Chugong, is open to the idea of writing a true sequel, there are no firm plans yet. However, an official announcement could come within months or even years.

I have to admit, the ending of *Solo Leveling* sparked a lot of debate, but one thing’s for sure: Jinwoo succeeded in saving the world. With peace restored and all threats eliminated, I’m really curious to see what new obstacles come up for him and the other hunters. If you’re interested, the anime is available on Crunchyroll, and you can read the manhwa on the Tappytoon app. But for a truly in-depth experience, I’d recommend checking out the original novel on the Yen Press website – it goes into so much more detail than the anime or manhwa.
