As a lifestyle expert who has had the privilege of witnessing the transformative power of art and entertainment in people’s lives, I am deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Song Jae-Lim. His career spanned a diverse range of roles, from the regal warrior in “Moon Embracing the Sun” to the complex Kwon Shi-Kyung in “The Idle Mermaid,” and each performance was met with critical acclaim and adoration from fans around the world.

The acting community is mourning one of its own.

Song Jae-Lim, a well-recognized South Korean actor who gained fame through television series such as ‘Moon Embracing the Sun’ and ‘Two Weeks’, was sadly discovered deceased at his Seoul residence on November 7th. This tragic news was confirmed by the Seongdong Police to the Daily Mail on November 12th. He was only 39 years old.

According to reports, a friend of the “We Got Married” celebrity dropped by for lunch at about 12:30 PM, and it was during this visit that the friend found the star unconscious.

According to the Daily Mail, no indication of suspicious activity or misconduct was found surrounding the incident, as authorities have yet to disclose the exact cause of death.

After his death, Song’s family announced through the Yonhap News Agency that they will be holding a small, private funeral for him on November 14th, inviting only his closest relatives and friends.

In the year 2009, Song first appeared on the big screen in the movie titled “Actresses,” subsequently securing a regular part as a faithful warrior in the widely-acclaimed series “Moon Embracing the Sun” three years afterwards.

After that, the actor garnered significant praise for his roles in various K-drama series, such as “The Idle Mermaid” (2014), “Unkind Ladies” (2015) and “I Wanna Hear Your Song” (2019). Notably, his portrayal of Kwon Shi-Kyung in “The Idle Mermaid” earned him a Soompi Award for best acting in 2015.

Apart from starring in scripted shows, the K-drama actor also delved into reality TV that year. He was paired with another actress, Kim So-eun, as a “fantasy married couple” on the series We Got Married. This role earned them a second Soompi award for Best Couple.

During his stint on the reality series, Song not only won an award but also gained something invaluable – a strong bond with Kim. After the season ended, the star of “Two Weeks” revealed that this close relationship off-camera significantly enhanced their work dynamics on set.

In a 2015 interview with Soompi, Song expressed that we shared both friendship and a mutual ambition: ‘Let’s complete the filming swiftly so we can return home soon, therefore let’s create enough content for the show and depart.’ This sentiment still echoes in our bond today.
