For us British, Neil Diamond might bring to mind slurred renditions of “Sweet Caroline” during Karaoke evenings, but the iconic singer is much more than that, as the Sing Sung Blue trailer demonstrates.
The film, penned and helmed by Craig Brewer, is based on real events and centers around two struggling musicians. Their fortunes take a turn for the better when they establish a Neil Diamond tribute band, demonstrating that it’s never too late to experience love and pursue one’s aspirations.
The upcoming film features High Jackman and Kate Hudson as the main characters, alongside Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hensley. It’s generating positive buzz. In 1972, Neil Diamond launched his hit single “Song Sung Blue,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The success was followed by other chart-toppers like “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Longfellow Serenade,” and of course, “Sweet Caroline.
In their own words, Director Brewer helmed the production of “Song Sung Blue,” a screenplay he penned, inspired by a 2008 documentary with an identical title (Coming 2 America – reviewed HERE).
The film is released in the US on Christmas Day with a UK date to be confirmed
