Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will have much more depth than the average kart racer.
Today, SEGA unveiled a trailer for their forthcoming racing game that highlights the extensive personalization options available upon its release.
Central to everything is the Gadget System, enabling you to customize your unique playing style by selecting various gadgets. For instance, some gadgets enhance your performance during mid-air tricks, while others reward you generously upon striking an adversary.
In the ultimate version of the game, there are more than 70 assorted devices at your disposal. Not only can you use these with various car accessories, but they also allow you to customize aspects like top speed, acceleration, and many other features. Essentially, you’ll have full freedom to tailor the gameplay experience according to your preferences.
It’s worth considering whether this might lead to issues with balance, but it seems the developers have given this careful consideration. They’re suggesting that the final game will offer more than 70,000 unique combinations.
Here’s the publisher’s official blurb:
Players have more than 40 different vehicles at their disposal, along with around 70 gadgets and over 100 vehicle components and decals. This means there are countless possibilities for players to tailor their ideal racing machine, allowing them to blend and match racers, vehicles, parts, and accessories to craft a personalized racing experience that suits their unique playing style.
If you appreciate visual style, decals offer an opportunity to personalize your vehicles with a distinctive flair. From the trailer’s glimpse, it appears that various horn options and trail effects may be available for you to unlock as well.
Prior orders are bundled with the Werehog pack, and if you create a Sega account, you’ll also receive the Blue Star Extreme Gear, reminiscent of the Sonic Riders game from the PS2 era.
The game’s due out on 25th September, on both PS5 and PS4.
